Thread: Devs, SWG Art Department: That's how Jedi are supposed to look like!

Here is a screenshot of two Jedi wearing hooded cloaks over their Jedi Sentinel Robes (note the clipping error on the sleeves), to show the developers and especially the sometimes seemingly clueless art department how Jedi are supposed to look like:

Two Jedi wearing their hooded cloaks over their Jedi Robes

Note that the screenshot uses only items already available in the game by simply swapping files which can be done with a simple mod.
Even though Thunderheart and the devs say it would be impossible to implement hooded cloaks easily because they would need to redo the models that simply is not true. The model for the hooded cloak is in the game for all species except Wookiee, who have their own cloaks, and Ithorians (who would like to have some hooded cloaks as well). It would be quite easy to give every Jedi a hooded cloak in their inventory. Even giving a tailor a schematic to craft such cloaks should only take a few minutes (Update: The regular cloak schematic has finally been duplicated and modified to allow tailors to craft hooded cloaks with the Jump to Lightspeed Expansion pack). Heck, it would even possible to let us wear hooded and non-hooded cloaks over Jedi Robes or armor, with some clipping errors, which could be ironed out if the developers really wanted to.
Now I don't know about you, but personally, I would like to be able to wear hooded and non-hooded cloaks over the Jedi robes even with the clipping errors, as it's still better than wearing no cloak over the Jedi Robes at all!

Here is where you can find the mod to get an idea about how Jedi in SWG could (or rather should) look like: Hooded Cloak over Jedi Tunics Mod v1.1

(JTL compatible version!)

Try to put a trim line shirt with a crafter pant (both same cream color) and the brown hooded cloak.

It looks so damn cool (my Jedi wears that, with the cloak but of course the hood is not on).

Even if it is not using the default paddy or Knight robe (where we can t add a robe on top), you clearly show that the cloak we have in game can get the hood on with NO ISSUE at all.

Indeed, thetwoJedi arewearing sandcolored trim lined shirts with matching crafter pants, brown uniform boots and a cloak, even on that screenshot.

You can see how this combination looks with a hood as well:

Th wasnt lying when he said he would have to redo models, it needs to be done to fit ever race and size, unless we all agree to go one specific size and a similar race but i would like hooded robes too so i can match my albinoness

AFAIK, the hooded cloaks already fit all genders, sizes and speciesbut Wookiees, which is not a big deal, as Wookiees can't wear regular cloaks, but insteadwear their sage hoods to their Jedi robes (which look horrible on Wookiees IMHO) anyway.

In fact, there are separate models for male/femal Twi-Lek and Mon Calamari for this veryhooded cloak inside the .tre files.

This picture looks awesome and would make me feel like a real jedi. Now I feel like I'm wearing white Ubese Armor without the fugly helmet..

Great! I wish I could wear such a great hooded cloak! Why isn't it possible to implement it for tailors, if all the models for the various races already exist?

Now the question is should these cloaks have its own defs mods to go with the mods already on the robes?
