Hey guys and gals. Obviously, since I'm asking about the crafting trial, I'm fairly new here. Last night I did 8 trials and am now on the trial to craft my first saber. I read the guides about crafting sabers and the guides about doing the trials, but I can't find the answers I'm looking for. Here we go...

1. Do I have to craft a "Training Saber" first or can I skip right to a "normal saber" (like first gen 2-hander for example)?

I don't think you have to but I don't remember whether the quest says something specific, but you won't be able to use any saber you craft until you finish the trials anyway since you have no force bar and all attacks use force. Whatever saber you craft now you won't to use later as you'll be able to make better quality ones anyway.

2.What, if any, are theadvantages to crafting a training saber?

Can't think of any

3. Once you place a crystal in a saber is it stuck there? I don't have that many crystals stocked up so I'm a bit nervous about which to use. For example, I havea blue crystal and I want a blue saber...so if I have to make a training saber and i can't retrieve the crystal, maybe I'm better off using one of my yellow ones in it or something. So...can color crystals, power crystals, and/or pearls be removed from a saber?

Yup you can remove them whenever the saber isn't equipped, so you may as well tune your favourite colour.

4.Does the level of your jedi have any impact on your ability to tune? Again, I don't have many crystals so does it make sense to tune them all and find out which is best, or tune a couple and wait till later to tune them for better results?

Heard a lot of rumours about this, but as far as I have known and seen it makes no difference what level of Jedi (or how much force you have) to what tune you get. Just remember to not tune any damage crystals until you have finished the trials

1. You can only craft a training saber at this stage.
2. It's all you can use until Novice LS where you get teh schematics for the other sabers.
3. No, any crystal can be removed from the saber, it's like a backpack. The training saber only takes 1 color crystal.
4. No, no difference on the outcome of the tune. Some higher quality crystals require more force to tune so you may not have a high enough Force pool when you initially unlock.

As far as the trial goes:

Use a generic crafting tool and make a LS crafting tool. Use the LS crafting tool to make 2 Crystal Packs. Use the tool and the Crystal Packs to make a Training Saber. Do not worry about quality at this point, your max DPS will be only like 40 even with HQ resources. Tune a color crystal. Open the Lightsaber and insert the color crystal. Meditate at the shrine to complete the quest.

Thanks for the response. That does help a lot. I've been curious for a long time about the ability to pull a crystal out of a saber. Thanks for clearing that up! The only reason I could think of to craft a training saber was that maybe it was a really low output saber that didn't require a force bar (since at the point of crafting it I wouldn't have one) but since it was only a guess I thought I'd ask. I think I'll just stick to making a gen-1 saber and see what happens. (It doesnt say anything specific about the type of saber to craft in the quest).

YEa I never used the training saber for anything other than the Lightsaber Crafting trial. As soon as a I made padawan I crafted a new one. You don't have to wait to Novice LS to craft that. I think the schematics are in the padawan box.

You're welcome. I am still pretty sure however that the only saber you can craft during the trials is the Training Saber. You don't get the schematics to create any of the generational or various-handed sabers until you learn Novice Lightsaber, at which point you can craft any or all of them.

Yep, I do have all of the schematics available. I just failed to craft any of them yet since I didnt have any gemstone on me for the crystalpacks.

You will find that contrary totheir descriptions, your training saber and your one and only attack, /saberhit, do actually both have a Force cost. The practical upshot of this is you cannot use your training saber until you attain Padawan rank, at which point you won't want to use it anyways. So don't get too excited over how well you craft it, and don't use your hoarded uber-saber-resources.

Hmm.. before you finished your trials? In which case this was fixed, my mistake.

I started my trials pre-CU (including the saber trial) but becauseSOE rushed the CUout early I still had 2 trials to finish post-CU. Pre-CU, I could use mytraining saber and was on my way to the 20K xp I needed for Novice LS. Post-CU I could not use my training saber at all, I would getthe "Low Force" flyout message. I got killed outright by some giant baz nitches duringthat trial (payback I guess) the day after the CU,and so started my Padawan career -35K xp or soin the holelol.
