a little background.. started playing when game was released. I have always wanted jedi, but I also wanted to enjoy the game. I am so happy now that my grind is over, and its just a matter of doing the final phase quest, defeating mel., and doing the trials.

My question is(and i know a lot I will have to figure for myself), what temp to go. I deff. want to be nice with a lightsaber(one blade, not 2), and i want to cloak(i think that is so cool), i no i need healing... so anyways.. just wondering since i will be a weak paddy if anybody can give some advice.

I have all my resources gathered for my hilt, a 15. pt lightsaber crafting kit, and 25 pt. lightsaber exp suit, and 3 flawless pearls, 3 -4 prem crystals.. and a bunch of others...... ohh and a hero ring....crate of swoops, and a generic house.

so please offer suggestions...

thanks....

Your first step after you start should be to go to LS xx2x so that you get your AOE attack and can experience the full use of Spin Groups.

Next I would recommend you add some Defender... at least xx4x so you can get Imp Force Aura. After that it really is up to you..... I would try to maybe get to MLS / Defender xx4x and then figure out what you want to do after that. There are going to be about 5000 opinions on this I am sure.

if your temp already has healing do what he said ^^^ otherwise get at least 2000 healer as it can be a real life saver, but yeah above all, xx2x sabers first, SPIN FTW!

first, get all novice boxes to expand your force bar....as fast as it drains you will need it....and prepare to be very disapointed with your skills.

DO not EVER listen to this advice, I hear it over and over and I listened to it at first as well... its horrible pre-cu advice that has no rhyme or reason now adays. Getting the novice boxes well only cause you to drop your combat level, which in turns means less MAX health AND less experience per kill and even more importantly, Less elite combat profession skills left in your template to defend yourself with. The only time you want novices is when you're ready for them, unless you're plannin on usin a repec... if you're having problems with force just have a friendtransfer to you, if no one is willing to help you with a transfer here and then then go for xxx2 enhancer asap, 1 channel at low level = full force bar.

I went for all five Novice boxes for my first goal. It's the fastest way to build upa decent (but still small) Force pool, since those boxes are relatively low-cost. Plus, that gives you the chance to dabble with all five disciplines, even if only at a noob level, to get a better idea of which skills you like. You'll get a bit of Healer, a bit of Enhancer, a bit of Powers, a bit of Lightsaber, and a (very small) bit of Defender.

Once you do that, there's a couple of schools of thought. You could go up the fourth line of Enhancer to gain Channel Force, or the first line of Healer to enhance your Healing abilities, or the Aura line of Defender for the quick infusion of defense. Most people do seem to go for the Saber Spin attack early, especially with the popularity of the spin groups. But that's your call.

Beyond that, a handy midlevel goal is Two-Handed Sabers, where you get the most powerful single-target strike plus Armor Break.

As for your cache of flawless pearls, one word of advice: Prepare yourself for a disappointment. The odds of a good tune from any given crystal are depressingly low. I've never seen a flawless crystal myself, but other Jedi tell me even flawless crystals often tune out to be crapp.

Other than that, don't knock yourself out trying to craft a perfect saber right away. Until you get fairly high in the saber tech tree, you'll start out generating a lowly one point of experimentation no matter how good your resources and food and entertainer buffage, which doesn't do much at all.

All that said, congratulations on your unlock!

Oh, and hang onto your combat skills until you're ready to train in a Jedi skill and need to free up skill points. Some paddies made the mistake of dropping all their normal skills and starting out with a training saber. Bad move. The level of saber you can use is determined entirely by overall combat level, not your advancement in the Jedi arts. So evena brand-new Padawan can use all four generations of sabers, so long as he's high enough level.

saerath, i see your point but its not bad advice. it depends on your play style....it helped me becuase after getting all the novice boxes, i got heal 2 and could grind longer with less consequences. the real trick to grinding and staying off the terms is maxing out with a training saber before trading in xp. you can grind taboo targets with no consequences.

Once again 5 novice boxes = 40 skillpoint investment for minimal ability and a force pool so small its almost worthless for fighting bhs, that leaves you with 186 skillpoints that can be Juuuuust enough for 2 elite combat professions i.e. Mrifles/Master pistols or Tkm/Swords but really doesn't leave any room for dabbling, and some double masteries are completely out MCM/Mrifles for instance would be unatainble with those skillpoints. On topof this once you start actually taking some skills xx2x sabers for example you're gonna need to drop the novice boxes ANYWAY or sacrificemore elite skills, my suggestion to all new paddies is just drop your skills as you have to, not before. But then again, who needs a full set of skills to protect yourself now that you've got /forcehit and um.. oh yeah /saberhit.. glowstick power ftw

Additionally im not tryin to be ass or anything, -if- you can stay off the terms go for the novice boxes, the force is nice I wont disagree with that, but well.. lets just say I didnt have such luck, nor did alot of padawans I knew and I quickly dropped my novice/tier 1 skills for elite professions until I needed to drop them. This was for the main reason that I made a choice to never run from bhs, so I found the best way to fight them was as a hybrid as I slowly gained more ability and eventually became full temp. Because of this method I only died 4 times as a paddy out of nearly 200 bhs and SEVERAL gank squads, in fact 3/4 deaths were gank squads, the other was a stupid smoke break while I was standin in MO Dant reguardless of what you decide to do there is good advice on this threat and not just from me, so best of luck with your grind.

Heh... the drop in level is an issue. But I did it, and survived. It is a sizeable investment of skill points, to be sure, as are all the first-tier skill boxes. Lowest I dropped was to level-54 (2000 points of Health -- ouch!) before the curve reversed itself. But the combat levels build back up pretty quickly as you ladder your way back up to Tier-4 in a couple of your skills. I don't think the XP-per-kill drop is all that big a deal if you can get into good hunting groups. For me, the process made me a better-informed (AND more-careful)padawan because I was able to sample all the professions. And now I'm back up to a nice, robust level-80.

I agree 110%. The novice boxes were required for Pre-CU Jedi. Not now. All you do by getting all the novice boxes is gimp yourself. Besides, if you use a 1st gen saber, and you have good pearls, which you do, your Force Cost for using the saber will be 5 or less. I'm almost full template, and if I'm not the tank, I use a 1st gen still, with a 5 Force Cost. Spinning an entire lair of pickets doesn't use the full amount of Force that you start with.

My recommendations: Only get the novice boxes you need at first. I'd say get Healer and LS first. Get to 2/0/0/0 heal and 0/0/2/0 saber asap. Yes this means that you will need to use a double-bladed LS to get max accuracy, but if you're just in the group you only need to do 1 pt of dmg to get full xp, so if you don't want to use the DB LS just use the 2 handed and don't worry about it.

After that, I suggest finishing out the healer tree (4/0/0/0). By getting the tier 3 and 4 Jedi boxes, you get a HUGE increase in CL (my CL went from 62-69 - 7 POINTS!!!) when I got 4/0/0/0. The tier 3 and 4 boxes also give you a good increase in force and regen.

Next get enhancer 2/0/0/2 so that you can get Force Run 1 for terrain negotiation, Force Speed to make you hit faster, and Channel so you can regen your force.

Then you can work on Defender and LS. Again, I'd do one complete tree before doing another one, as the low level boxes force you to drop a lot of skill points from your regular professions just to get one box, thereby dropping your CL and Health. I'd save Cloak for last.

Good luck!!

I have some advice for you

Cancel now, and save yourself the dissapointement.

Watch the forums for the Pearl fix, but honestly, the game overall, not just Jedi, is borked beyone belief.

You will bust your ass, only to clench your fist in disgust, and once you reach the finished template, the game is essentially over, since high end content is nono-exsisten (unless killing Krayts endlessly is fun for you, if they even spawn).

You nay only be spending $15 a month to play, but the inordinate amount of time you will spend chasing the carrot on a stick, you could easily use to start a fortune 500 comapny,

I hate to be the voice of reason, but, as an old Jedi.

Be wary.
