Thread: Is 0044 Def worth having

From reading these posts, I haven't seen much talk about improved valor. My current template is MLS/4000 healer/0042 def/ 2002 enh/ 0400 powers. With the changes to cloak I want to switch to MLS/4040healer/3002 enh/ 0044 def. But, is improved valor even worth the sp. Should I go somewhere else with the SP?

I personally think Improved Valor is underrated. Just my opinion though. 
I enjoy having it.
I am a Master Defender and I use it when I need to and I can usually only see +Block+ repeatedly going up as I am being shot at.
I usually only suffer against ranged attacks when I forget to reapply it. I don't have it in my macro cause I don't get shot at often enough for the force drain on it (yes, I am tempermental about my force pool).

I think its awesome I currently have 0044 def and the branch of enhancer that give you force armor. All 3 trees combined makes you one heck of a tank.

I am def 4440. Ive never had FV. But from what I understand, it is mainly a ranged defense. However, what I am looking at is the extra melee def and states def that it gives. If the way ranged defense is now understood to work stays that way, I may very well drop the x4xx tree and go into another discipline altogether.

Does vaybok (think that is how it's spelled), the block drink work? Cause with Improved valor, MLS and that you'd have a block of over 60. I am at work right now so i can't get the exact details. Seems to be a decent addition.

Valor isnt really worth it unless you're planning on going mdef anyway then its a great skill

I disagree. If somone picks up just 0044 defender and 0400 enhancer you have almost as much defence as a master defender. M defender is a waiste of skill pts imho. I can tank anything a m def can with my temp.

yah you may be able to tank just like a MDef but not as long since your temp drains force

I don't like Valor. Never found it very useful...outside of some high-end PvE spots. Never had much use for it in any PvP though. My opinion, anyway.
