Thread: BHs and Ships terminals... an apparently new tactic... BEWARE

I just wanted to inform anyone who cares about anew tactic I have observed BH's using. 2 of the last 3 BH's to attack me have used this to there advantage, wittingly or not. Heres how it works... the BH waits until the jedi approaches a ship terminal then waits a second to give the jedi the opportunity to interact with the terminal, then fires. So? you say? This is So. Once the interface opens (for me at least) I now have two windows filling my screen, one the ship select and one the travel map. For me this takes up over half of my screen and that is with the windows as small as I can get them. Now the BH attacks. You now cannot use the exit at the bottom of the window to close it! If you try, you get a system message that says, "You cannot perform this action while fighting." if you try to travel you get a system message, "You cannot perform this action while fighting." if you try to launch, you get a system message, "You cannot perform this action while fighting." If you try the little x in the corner to close the window(s), you get a system message, "You cannot perform this action while fighting." I do not know if the windows will close automatically if you move away from the terminal, because I have yet to be able to see well enough to effectivelyknow which way to run. It has been my experience so far that you are severly limited in fighting with these windows up. I have tried moving them to the sides or up or down so that I can see my target and have access to my quickbar, with some resonable sucess, tho this takes time during which the BH is chewing awaymy HAM. Once you do get the windows to the sides, top or bottom so that you can see, you are somewhat limited in what you can do... I have had success in using the quick buttons, but so far have failed to be able to use the command/chat window, and I can onlyassume its because you have not finished interacting with the launch windows that are up, and that's notallowing you to go to the chat bar so you can type anything.

Oh and there is one other thing... I have observed that there is terrible lag when in battle with a BH... I dont understand this, because its been my experience that his lag exist even if there is no lag normally.... BUT, if you have any launch window up, its multiplied expodentually. Today for example, when the BH killed me, the first shot he took knocked me down,I hit the Knockdown recover quickbutton, wait..... nothing. Again, wait.... nothing... then stand, wait.... nothing, tried a stimpac, (this was desperation, I was down to 1K health, but I knew it wouldn't work cuz I was still knocked down), then force heal, wait.... still knocked down.... then Force Valor, wait... nothing. I stopped with that cuz I was afraid of spam lock up. My first knock down recover activated after the BH had reduced my life to about 200 points... he then triple incapped me and I cloned. Immediately after I clonned I got a system message saying I could not knock down recover cuz of invalid posture x2, same for the stand command, my stimpac dropped by 1 use count (even tho my health was full due to cloning) andthen I forcehealed myself immediately after which Force Valor took effect, all with in about 4 seconds of arriving in the cloner.... while standing in the cloner.

If anyone know a tactic I can use to combat this new tactic by BH's, please share. If its a game setting I need to adjust to reduce or get rid of the lag, please tell me what where for that also.

Thanks.

if your using the swg keymapping then just hit alt. it will put them all in the background and free up your screen.

tried using the alt... didn't seem to do anything... if it did... it didn't take effect in time due to lag is all I can figure.

another way to do it is to make your windows very translucent. You can make them essentially invisible when they pop up, which will allow you know which way to run.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

You can press the alt key and the windows will go away. Also if you are afraid this might happen again when you go to use the terminal just hit force valor, aura and infusion before using the interface. Which this is something you should do before you travel anyway so you don't get load ganked. I also hope you bugged it as for the bh using the tactic they must not be very good if they have to resort to this when fighting a Jedi, but then again they are a BH and will use whatever they can to get an advantge this is a little chicken s of them though.

This tactic isnt new.I am not a bh anymore but as far as the name calling of them goes,I never ran from a jedi win or lose, but i know many who ran at the sight of me,even when they could own me.

Bah, not new.

If you see a guy inside the room with the terminal go to the terminal like if you're going to use it and wait 30sec with the mouse on a synthsteak. If he opens fire he will find himself like a mouse with a cat inside a closed room!

I was about to flame you when I first started reading this becuase I thought you were going to whine about BH using the fact you're busy looking at something else. Then I got to th main part of your post, the fact you cant remove the screen.

That's another example of good sound coding.

Thanks for the warning dude.

One way to avoid it I guess is to not stand so clost to the term. Dont make it look like your using it and he may be fooled.

and if you just go far enought? Doesn't those window automatically close?

BTW, you should report this ! it's indeed a bug !

Devs locked the use of thoses terminals to prevent anyone flying away from a fight, but not beeing able to close them is quite stupid...

you should never use a highly traveled terminal anyway. go to a remote starport then shuttle into the area you want to be at. The bh knows that if you are parked at a certain starport he will camp it, and he will assume its a busy one because you dont want to spend the money to shuttle. This first takes you to a low traffic port and second you have room to run. When i am on corillia i use the northern starports to land at, then i shuttle to coronet. When i leave I go to a differnet city to shuttle back to my ship. On my home planet i never park both of my ships at the same port. I always split them up far from each other. I also keep waypoints for large bodies of water as escape routes in case of chases. On planets that i had to hunt alot I would also split two ships up on it also. There are ways around it if you think ahead.
