Thread: Animations!!
If you weren't a Jedi before the CU you won't feel me as much on this, but boy do I miss the old saber block animation. You actually saw the bolt hit your saber and reflect off, and the sound effect was just like in the movies -Itwas rad. Now all you see isthe stupid +BLOCK+ combat spam textfloat off your head.
Very sad. This game could be so more (has been more) than it is now.
I think that this would add additional problems however. If jedi were to actually block attacks, then the ONE that finally made it through would pretty much have to be a killingblow (or close to it) or the fights would last forever. Now, look to the GCW or BH interactions. We can't really have jedi killing everyone with single blows (no matter how much some jedi would like this!), so there would have to be two entirely different systems in place for PvP combat. Even PvE might become tricky due to this issue, unless jedi were given even worse to-hit mods. I don't think that most of us would like to have fights where we missed for the first 20 attacks and drained force before hitting that lucky blow.
It's just not really possible with the game mechanics that are in place and the fact that this really isn't a jedi-centric game. There are a LOT of other profs out there, and little way to actually make this work without an entire rework of the game engine.

Actually, today I was fighting some stormies, and I was showing my son the DB saber I was using, and I WAS doing the block animation, and yes, it DID show me blocking (as well as the +Block+ above my head), and the bolt reflecting off of it.
