is it true that how far along you are in jedi has nothing to do with the tune you get from a crystal/pearl? for instance, i just got padawan do i have the same chance of getting a good tune as a full template jedi? and also do pearls tune better than crystals? cause they sure do sell better

The thing about being far in your jedi grind as to tuning stats is all but a rumour.

Regarding the crystals vs pearls - I have far better tunes on pearls than i do on crystals so generally only pursue those. Could very well vary from person to person.

In my experience pearls do tune better as well, although apparently the cap is the same on both, and at the present nothing seems to tune 'well' regardless of what it is

All i have to say is I have tuned at least 120 clear crystals since CU and not one , and i mean a single one has tuned good enough to replace any in my saber . The very best tune i ever had was like a lot of ppl the very first one i ever tuned as a new pady so ........ what's the deal seriously are we just that unlucky lol ?

I am content with the dmg on my saber , being a non pre-9 jedi , works fine in PvE , good FC and speed but really does get to ya sometimes when you hear someone say Holy Chit i just tuned a 102/102 -5 off a crap crystal

and all my crystal varied in quality and where i got them , from low lvl Force sensitive's all the way up to DJM on dath. And yeah I've heard all the folk lore about no wounds , inspiration buffs , tuning in front of a force shrine , even today heard one about tuning on the planet you killed Mell and the hour you unlocked lol that one was new to me tried them all and nada , so is anyone else just having this bad of luck or is it just the redheaded step children trando's

The only thing I can figure out about tuning, is don't do it during peak times.

The biggest effect causing tunes to suck seems to be server load. I just now tuned two fair crystals; one was 65, -.05, -6 FC and another was 74, -.13, -7 FC.

This is very good for 'fair' crystals, and far better than the tunes I've been getting from Quality crystals of late. The *only* difference I can figure out was that I tuned the Qualities as soon as I got them, between 5 pm and 8 pm EDT (peak load times) while the two crystals I just tuned I did around 5:10 am EDT (definitely not a lot of people on.)

Server load leads to server lag, server lag leads to a delay in generating stats, a delay in generating stats leads to poor tunes as the server assigns baseline stats just to get it over with.

Even at low load times, though, you're still looking at completely random numbers, though.

You have no evidence of this. Dont post this info as you know it to be the fact. Its your guess.

This is pure speculation. Generating a random number doesn't take significantly longer than "assigning baseline stats". I have tuned a "good" pearl to 105 -8 at peak time (11PM EST).

It is also my experience that, on average, pearls tune better than crystals with the same rating.

Well there might be something too this... The way a cpu generates a random number is actually controlled by the temp in the core, and the server cpus are warmer when the load is high, however the random number generation only need a microscopic change in temp to give a different result so it shouldn't really matter if the core is 100 degrees F or 115F coz a full cycle of random possibilities have gone several times on such a "big" temp difference

Last night I tuned a "Good" pearl I looted of a Giant Cayon Krayt, it tuned 117 damage, which I was really impresed with, but only -4 FC, so I doubt I will use it. What was strange was just to test I used it to replace my lowest damage pearl a 96 -7FC with it , and theDPS went down. I assume this was due to the speed modifer differnce.-.17on the 117 and-.28 on the 96.

I have tuned about 10 Post Cu goods. None have been good enough to use, but that one was close.
