I got a couple questions that i would like to throw out. If you like the post keep it going for a while.

First though imagine if SOE put out an expansions on a few new servers that was based on the time line of the Knights of the Old Republic. Many of the planets that now exist in SWG would be there like Tatooine and Dantooine, but not all. New additional planets would be part of this expansion, such as Korriban and perhaps even Alderan as it hasnt been destroyed yet. Imagine if you will that when you travel to Dantooine the Jedi temple is intact and thriving as well as the other jedi temples on Dantooine and Korriban and Yavin IV.Imagine an expansion where the is a complete jedi council to interact with as well as a secrete society of sith. Imagine being able to log into the golden age of the jedi and play your jedi toon with awesome light sabers, access to crystal caves as there locations have not yet be forgotten, no fear of visibility being that the jedi order is alive, and access to fun content based on events of that era, where grinding isnt away of life but adventuring is. Then imagine being able to log into the era of the Galactic Civil War with your alternate toon on a designated GCW server as a rebel commando or a storm trooper seeing the Dantooine temples in ruins and things of the past laid to waste and forgotten where there are no more jedi or sith save the emperor, Darth Vader, Luke, Yoda, and the spirit of Obi-wan, where the content is based on an empire divided and in turmoil.

If such an expansion came out would you:

1) Be interested in such an expansion at all?

2) Be willing to transfer your jedi toons to a designated KOTOR server, knowing that you jedi toon could never again return to aserver that is based on the GCW ?

3) Still play in the GCW as a rebel, neutral, or an imperial?

4) Would this be an effective way to rid the GCW of content that should not be or do you think it would solve a lot of problems currently currently facing the jedi profession and population?

5) Or would it just be better to jump the current time line ahead to post espisode 6, where the New Republic is freshly formedand the ranks of the jedi order are again beginning to swell, while there is still a remenant of the evil empire around, not as strong but still a formidable foe.

There are the questions would love to see all of your responses.

Too often players and the devs have a mindset that professions should be balanced with 1 on 1 pvp in mind. This mindset is ruining the game. The benchmark for balance should be determined by the role a profession plays in a group setting. As long as the current mindset continues we will never see uniqueness among the professions, nor will we ever see individuality within a given profession. We will never see the SWG universe expanded as the focus will only ever be balance pass after balance pass after balance pass.

1) No would remove the BH dynamic that I love I like the fact im an outlaw and im hunted

2) No because it would take any sort of diversity away from game as server would only be jedi

3) You wouldnt have a GCW in this timeline you suggest dont understand what question your trying to ask...

4) If you mean removing the GCW's overpopulation of Jedi.... probably it would be an effective way of doing it yes... if impractical

My suggestion Jedi cannot participate in GCW full stop.... once they choose to enter the FRS when it comes they are removed from their faction and placed into a new one either light .... or dark side. Keep GCW for the normal professions and give Jedi their own war to fight without making a whole new game.

It would be a complete alternate universe seperate servers. The would be no galactic civil on those servers alot of other servers would. The new expansions would not just have jedi toons but other unique professions appropriate for that era Perhaps like Republic peace keepers or something

I don't think seperate servers are ever going to happen. They have a hard enough time keeping up with one version of the game as it is. I think any one staff would.

If this happened, I'd not only stay in the game, but you couldn't keep me away from the character transfer page. This would be the most exciting expansion ever.

Even better idea, but I can one up that for KOTOR-Online, don't give the project to SOE!

yeah im pretty sure that it would never happen either but you know its fun to dream. Only way i could see it happen is if they switched some of the current servers to it that way no additional maintence would be needed. That wouldnt fly though because it would raise too many questions on what to do with everyone on those servers

I actually like idea #5 of the OP's.

For the life of me, I think the timeline they selected is just terrible. I am of the opinion that they did it just so they could use the main characters from the original trilogy, as virtually all of the main ones are alive at this point in the universe.

However, I would much rather a post-Episode 6 timeline, as it would allow for a new take on the Star Wars world while still keeping somewhat true to the movies. The Rebellion is much stronger after the destruction of the second Death Star (which would explain why the Empire is so weak in this game. And I don't care what anyone says, for a GALACTIC Empire, it sure doesn't feel like one in SWG). Plus, if the Emperor was gone, the Jedi order would be reformed, and those in hiding would probably resurface, thus explaining all of the Jedi running around in game.
