Please sign below if you feel:
-Players who completed 4 Holocrons and 1 Hidden should be given 6 Free Unlocks.
-Players who completed 4 Holocrons should be given 4 Free unlocks
-Players who completed 4 Holocrons but did not get a Hidden and did 10 or more professions should be given 5 unlocks.
-Players who completed 4 Holocrons but did not get a Hidden and did 20 or more professions should be given 6 unlocks.
Logic:
We believe that the SOE development staff recognized a legitimate need for improvement to the Jedi system. The path today from Padawan to Master is quite a bit more difficult than it was in the past, as is the path to padawan. We feel that SOE increased the hidden professions from 1 to 4 in an effort to allow further development of the Jedi (Padawan to Master) game. Given that this path has been significantly addressed:
We feel that SOE should honor its original system and grant those players who have complete 4 Holocrons and mastered one of their Hidden professions 6 unlocks.
While we understand the reasons why you increased the number of hidden professions (to prevent not the influx of new jedi, but to provent the quitck progression from new jedi to 4-4-4-4 Knight in a seemingly small period of time), it is categorically unfair to those players who faithfully stood by your development process. While game experience does change over time, game mechanic changes of such magnitude alter the game in a unfair manner.
That being said, we feel that SOE should honor its orignal covenant with the players of SWG and grant the afore mentioned unlocks. The current compensation system is lacking. We were promised compensation for professions mastered. What we were given was a half truth - compensation is only being given for number of hidden professions completed. Had this information been released when the orignal communication had been given, many people would have stopped profession grinding completely.
Because we were made to feel that the more professions completed, the further along in the path to Jedi you would be post publish 10, many people sacrificed large amounts of time, in game capital , etc. to this pursuit. The current system does not address this effort as it was originally promised to do so.
Take for example the following possible situation:
Person grinds 4 holocrons and stops: 2 unlocks (4 professions completed)
Person does 4 Holos + 24 Professions: 2 unlocks (28 professions completed)
While unlikely, this situation is a real possibility. It is possible that a person could do all professions except his 4 hidden professions and get the same compensation as someone who has only finished four professions. This cannot in any logical manner be considered an sufficient compensation plan given that we were never told of the conditional hidden only compensation.
Therefore we are asking that SOE
1) Honor its orignal system of (4 + 1 = Padawan) - this is a big game, over time you are going to have a lot of Jedi, there is no turning back from that fact. But keep in mind attrition does occur. There will be an ebb and flow. Be adult and admit that the shortcoming was in your development, the change to 4+4 was unfair to the community. Getting to Padawan in the new system is just the start, its a small step in the grand scheme of things. Give people what they deserve and chalk this up to a good lesson in developmental planning.
2) Honor your original statement that we would be compensated for professions completed - only honoring hidden professions completed is again a slap in the face of your customer base. Why not just say that from the get go? Save people a lot of time. What your messing with here is hope. You see this as a business, rightfully so. We see this as a virtual world that we love. It's like telling a boy scout if he sells this case of 500 boxes of cookies that he gets to go to Disneyland, and if you don't sell all 500, you will get compensated for the total number you have sold, only to turn around and say: "Oh ya, we forgot to mention that there are 4 boxes of cookies in there with a special sticker, if you dont sell those, you get nothing."
We feel that compensation in the event of not getting at least one hidden profession should be comisserate with the number of professions completed. Originally SOE envisioned a certain period of time required to become a jedi. Today that amount of time is radically more (game mechanics, conversion cost, etc.) than it was before. And before, that time was still signficant.
People who completed at least 10 professions should be 5/6th of the way to Jedi.
People who completed 20+ professions have satisfied your requirements completely and should be given all 6 unlocks.
While many in this community will view this petition an annoyance, will say there is nothing you can do, they will not change. Or relegate this to pure whine, others may feel the same way that myself and other do regarding the manner in which we are being compensated. We are the grandfather group, the early adopters, the initial supporters, the profession fixers. We should be grandfathered into padawan status, it is the only fair thing to do.
I ask that those who feel the compensation system needs to be reviewed a second time sign below. With any luck we can send a message to SOE and affect a change. Thank you for your time.

I don't feel that the devs should be punishing people who put so much work already into getting jedi with more work. Your example of the 28 professions and 2 trees is a perfect example. I have done no where near that much, but I feel sorry for them because of their bad luck...that's not right.
Also, the devs didn't give anyone notice about anything when stuff was changing. 5->8professions? when did that happen? I virtually live on these boards (well, kinda), and didn't see anything about that.
*shrug*
We'll see what the devs do, so far they are extremely quiet, this new grind is much worse than the last one, and even more boring. If nothing else, maybe adding the ability to do each of the missions in the phase (but only get credit for one of the branch unlocks) would be nice - at least that way we can 'play' the rest of the whole cycle, like we should be able to.

The compensation is fine. There are exactly two kinds of professions under the "hologrind" system: those that help you unlock, and those that don't This has always been known to be the case. The correct amount of credit based on the number of professions completed to help you unlock has already been put into place, with the exception of those who have become "bugged" in the new system and can't get free unlocks even if it can be proven that they have it coming to them.
Completion of professions that do not progress you under the old system are not and should not be considered for credit.
Edit: Oh, and I don't have my Jedi yet so that is not the basis of my opinion--but of course, I have no proof.

There were 8 holo profs total. 4 holos and 4 hidden. So 4 profs should equal 3 trees etc. I know that there were some people who were screwed out of this though.

Can't be done because as they've said many times, prior to the badges they did not keep track of how many professions someone did.

Having the credit be based on a random factor that the player has no control over is just unfair.

I personally know one of those 24 professions and only 2 unlocks people. All the poor guy wants is jedi, and he keeps getting stuffed. I doubt he stays longer than another month or so.

I have only one question to all of you..
how many of your professions did you legitimately play? (aka: not just grind to master, then switch).
personally I think you would likely be happier right now if you had played them, rather than trying to grind/macro your way through them as fast as possible.
It is now *very* easy to unlock the jedi stuff.. if you just play the game.

I played the following professions 'for fun':
Weaponsmith, artistian (duh, huh - with weaponsmith), Merchant, scout, ranger, bounty hunter, swordsman, tka, fencer, rifleman, pistoleer, carbineer, commando, entertainer, smuggler, doctor, combat medic, bio-engineer, and CH.
Of those, I got sick of most while playing them, I mastered:
TKA (loved that profession, I did it early in the game, before everyone went TKA), Ranger (Absolutely my favorite profession), Fencer (my 2nd favorite), doctor (liked it, didn't keep it long), combat medic (also liked it, kept even shorter since none of my friends went group hunting much
, Bio-Engineer(came close to mastering, by 1 box, got sick of it and dropped it), Swordsman (loved the profession, about like fencer, but I liked fencer better - even for PvE).
As you can see I did quite a few that I actually 'enjoyed', and did many that I ended up dropping quite quickly. The sad part is that I got over the 1/2 way mark on most of the professions listed above, and if I did master them, I would have easily been a jedi probably before holos were even found out. I hate to grind though, I dispise it infact. I will do some moderate grinding, I.E. I mastered swordsman in 3 days, but overall I don't grind. Right now, on one of my characters, my template is a master fencer, ranger. I love ranger, and fencer both. I played most things in the game, and that's why I'm not grinding with my other character (smuggler / pikeman) to get jedi.

They can't even tell for sure if you have mastered a prof.
And certainly not when. It's not date stamped.
This issue came up 3 months ago when some people were saying they knew they masterd all 32 profs.....several before Badges came out....but they only had like 27 badges or whatever.....but didn't have Jedi...and they had to re-grind some profs.
They will not pull some devs off working on JTL to handle this issue. It's not going to happen. They are not going back and doing a big database query on and August backup of every character on every server.
Not gonna happen. Never. Ever. This is why everyone who is still around from the beginning of this year who wanted Jedi grinded like mad before July.
As a shrink told me once.......and I've taken this to heart.... your head will quit hurting when you quit banging it against a brick wall. You can't reason with the brick wall. You can't argue with the brick wall. The brick wall isn't going to change. So just quit banging you head against it. You will feel alot better.
