Some people say that the single person that does the most damage regardless if they are in a group or not gets the kill. Other people say whatever group does the most damage...I can't get a reliable answer here.
I wanted to go with some friends down to Lord Nyax but I want to know if we're going to even get the kill if the loot system works as the first I mentioned.
Thanks

as i understand it....the one person who does the most damage gets loot rights. if that person is in a group...that group gets rights.

It's the group, I used to get beat by large groups of novices all the time with about 10x the damage output of any single member in the group.
All other things being equal two people will always beat one.
It’s easy to test just need three or four people and some right sized mobs. Note the amount of ham on the creature all three bars. Have a master that can target the mind pool take out about 3/4 of the mind and peace, note the amount of damage again. Then have the other people grouped and attack the mob with auto attacks. You will get situations where the single person always does more damage then any other single person in the group but the group always wins.
You can also get a damage calculator and do the math from the combat window. Just adding the numbers in combat window only tells you what you rolled, not how much damage you actually do after AP and resists.

It adverages out the total group damage aganst the number of people in the group.
Thats why one rifleman can outdamage a group of one rifleman and two TKA.

Hum, that’s interesting, always thought there was a possibility for it to be group averages in some way. Haven’t looked into those possibilities completely. You sure that situation is between riflemen of equal power?
A speed capped rifleman with a good t21 can do about 3 times more damage then an out of the box master rifleman, and if it’s against a mob with high AP and kinetic resist the TKM aren’t adding much. In that circumstance a single speed capped RM can just plain out damage a rifleman and two TKM’s.
Because if its just group damage divided by group members then it would always go to group with the highest damage per person and I have been in many situations where this clearly isn’t the case.
1 person does 10k damage= 10,000 damage per person
10 people do 11k damage = 1,100 damage per person
but I will continually lose in that circumstance.

My hope rests with the idea that a group can out damage an individual. If not, the devs really are writing code from the beaches of Hawaii and don't give a damn about the game.

A single person can outdamage a group, perphaps not something to shout about but as a Jedi i can go to the Krayt Graveyard find a group of 10+ imps beating up a Krayt and win the loot rights from them. Did this twice one night although i was there at the same time the Krayt spawn started they claimed they owned it, i just had to own it of them after that. Damn dirty Imps

hmm...never thought about that angle. i think there was a brief mention ona change in lootingmany many publishes ago, but the exact method i dont think was ever put into detail.
as already mentioned, you'd first need to assume that both rifleman are equal in your described scenario. The system still would be wrong tho.
Loot rights should be based on cummulative damage of the group, not on one person doing the most damage, or the average damage done by the group.
