According to the Pikeman correspondentDoTs are being converted into extra damage or something so don't be too disheartened.

Nearly all DOT lances though have crap other stats, so with the conversion they still wont be worthwhile using compared to the standard dmg lances now.

i also heard a rumor that they will let dot weapons already ingame stay until the uses run out

If thats true would be very nice
I too have heard might be transformed into higher damage *fingers crossed* Either way will get some good use with the upcoming server war 
It's a shame though a very nice 550 str 280s 7k use this close to the CU

The Loss of DOT's don't concern me too much... I'v never acctually used one.
But atleast the Exeptional Damage Weps are staying in, or atleast i havn't heard anything about them being removed....
They gotto have some Reeealy Nice High end Damage weps ingame, or there's no point in Killing anything... other than just doing it for fun a few Credits, Loot Kits, Resources& exp, which would get pretty boaring after about 2 days..!!!
Fighter Classes would have no reason to fight hi end mobs, as most Crafters can collect their own resources, Loot kits are pretty old now & credits can be gotten in much easier ways.
I Always look forward to my next Kryat or NSKill, just in the hope of a nice Prize at the end.
If all Really Nice Loot Weps were removed, I'd be Hanging up my Combat & Make my Char into a Doc or Dancer & just Macro for the remainder of my TIme in SWG....hehehe
Which would be about 1 week or so till my WoW Box Set arrives.
