Imagine this, you stand tall atop a hill, looking down on a pack of Stormtroopers patroling the desert sands below you. The two suns of Tatooine dip low in the sky shining dully on the square metal Imperial Outpost. You quickly make a signal with your fist and three Rebel Dropships fly over you. They soar around the base, peppering the Turrets and Stormtroopers with side mounted turrets on the sides of the Dropships. A Dropship pulls up along side you and you hop in, and sit down, legs hanging out the door, grasping a rapid fire turret. You look forward as the Dropship lurches towards the base and see a rocket fly up and hit one of the dropships in its underbelly. It shudders, then boosts straight into the ground and several survivors begin crawling out, firing thier Proton Carbines at oncoming Imperial Troops.

Dropships/Troop Transportsand Atmospheric Flight-

PvE:

Used for transporting you and a squad of NPCs or players.

Could be used for Quest, IE: transport a squad of NPCs to a base then help them fend off the oncoming Imperials. Or vice Versa.

General Navigation around maps, Dropships would fly somewhat faster than Swoops and Av-21s. Troop Transports would travel slower than Swoops and Av-21s but carry more cargo and people.

PvP:

Can Transport many players and drop them off at a specific location.

Side mounted turrets (simular to space JTL multiplayer ship turrets) can be fired at players don below, or on ground level.

Commandos have several bonuses, Rockets put into use, can do severe damage to flying and troop transport. Commandos get a damage bonus with the turrets as well.

Pilots get a bonus for flying/ driving the ships.

Rifleman can do damage to individual people riding on the ship.

Melee skills will have no bonuses, but would be good for ambushes when they land or slow down.

Ranged will just inflict regular damage.

Craftable by shipwrights OR Master Artisan. OR Purchased from faction recruiter, or other NPC for neutral.

Development:

Coding would be somewhat easy, because they would use the same models as the starships and speeders, just different skins.

Grouping would be nescessary for gaining acces to troop transports and dropships.

Landing would use the house placement model, and woudl use the /dock animation from JTL.

Types of Dropships/ Troop Transports:

Imperial Dropship: Sienar Systems/Cygnus Spaceworks Sentinel-Class Landing Craft.

Player useable turrets mounted on the rear, hanging out of an open cargo door.

Pilot weapons, one generic, non upgradeable cannon on each side of the cockpit.

Capacity: One pilot-- two gunners, and four passengers.

Imperial Troop Transports: Incom Y-4 "Raptor" Transport.

No driver weapons.

One topside anti-air turret, and one rear mounted surface-to surface turret mounted on a platform, in mid section of the rear end of the craft. Or if that conflicts with any engines or anything two turrets mounted on the side walls, 360 degrees rotateable.

Hovers slightly above the ground, moves about as fast as the X-31 speeders.

Capacity: One pilot possibly a co-pilot, ten passengers, two or three gunners (depending on physical limitations)

Rebel Dropship: Shuttleport Shuttle

The reason for the Shuttleport Shuttles to be used, is to add more flavor to the game. These would be used, as stolen ships, to represent the Rebels Down-but not out, guerilla mentality.

Their insides would be gutted, giving light to an empty cabin, with two large openings on either side, with turrets mounted on the ground, so that when you would mount the turrets, your legs would hang out of the craft.

No pilot weapons.

Capacity: One Pilot-- Two gunners, and Three non-combatant passengers.

Rebel Troop Transports: Kuat Drive Yards HAVw A5 Juggernaut

Uses wheels.

One rear mounted turret, and one topside mounted turret.

Capacity: Pilot-- Two gunners, and ten passengers in mid section.

Identical speed to Imperial Transport.

Neutral Dropship: Ubrikkian Bantha II Cargo Skiff

Two Side mounted turrets.

Capacity: 1 pilot, 2 gunners and three passengers.

Neutral Troop Transports: N/A

No need for one, for this will encourage combatant neutrals to pick a side in the GCW.

Atmospheric Flight would need a lot of adjusting to current game every little thing that stops you on the ground will stop you 100m up, but I would love multi passanger ground transport

its a bit too big for now but i think we should start out small like putting someone in that oh so unused seat in your landspeeder or on the back of a speeder bike or creature mount not to mention putting a few weapons on these mounts

you gotta crawl before you can get into a ship and start blowing planets up

Yeah, i was gonna write the need for small things like that, but, i figured there mite be too many threads that aredy cover that

And yeah, the cap for the Dropships would have to be low, but would not be extremely challenging to make
