Thread: Developers!! Resource Recyclers are sure a dissapointment as they are today!

I cannot believe I spent all the time I have gathering loot for making these recyclers. Not only do you have to go all over the Galaxy to find the stuff you need (it seems every schematic requires another looted schematic), some of the items are nearly impossible to get (did someone say Blue Wire?).

Well, I have finally made two of these recyclers. The metal recycler and the creature recycler, as starters, are a major dissapointment! The output resource has atts of 200 across the board!! What crafter is going to use a resource like this? Not this one, that I can tell you. Virtually every bit and piece of resource that you put into the recycler is better going in than it is coming out.

This wasa great idea, however, it could not have been messed up more. It would be better if these were shredders and simply destroyed whatever resource you put in. That would at least save you the time of having to confirm the destroy option for each item you wanted to make no longer useful.

Why don't these work the way logic would suggest they work? The combination of the input resources results in something coming out that is better than the individual parts that went in. Perhaps a lesson can be taken from the Reverse Engineering of space components. I have yet to hear of a metal alloy that was not as good as either of the metals used to make the alloy. Until the metal smelter that is, lol!!!

Devs, please consider revamping the recyclers to put out a resource that might at actually be useful beyond simply making a bunch of little stacks into a bigger stack of unusable resource.

Sorry for the Rant, just had to vent my frustration

They do have a use theymade them so you could combine resources to make items where quality isn't important. For example I used to be an architect and wall modules need say 100 Ore (can't rem exacttly) but the stats on the ore do not matter now if I had 50 units of one type of ore and 50 units of another I can combine them to make 100 and build my wall module.

But I do agree not really that useful for most things

They're perfect for items where stats don't matter, though. If you're on Chilastra, I'll take that disappointing creature recycler off your hands. It'll let me make bigger runs of PIkatta Pie (which needs a lot of milk for a subcomponent where I don't care about the 200 stats).

From previous dev posts, a resource combiner (averaging stats of multiple resources, or doing something along the lines of shipwright reverse engineering) isn't really possible given the way the resource database entries are set up. Right now, each resource has one master data row, and stacks just act as a pointer to that data with a quantity field {that's really just a guess, but I'm pretty confident about it}. With "custom" resources, each individual stack of resources would have to store a full accounting of all stats. Sure, it may not be much more data for each stack, but how many stacks do you think exist on a given server? That's a lot of info to dump into the database just for one set of loot items.

If you don't like it, put them up for auction on your trade forum. I know there's a market for the creature recycler (chefs, tailors, and architects could all use it), and possibly the metal (for architects, probably).

I love the recyclers, they are super sweet tools for a crafter. My architect/Shipwright toon is in hog heaven with the ore and metal ones. And tailors, chefs and droid engineers can also benefit gratly from these. They are quite useful in my opinion.

Especially love the creature recycler, knocked about 30 items out of the inventory on my house with that thing.

recycler are good- how much better would you have them? like evry thing you put in get stats of 500 or higher?

it are only meant to recycle small parts of resources.

only thing i dont like are the drop rate of items..

cant seem to get thoose blue wires i need.. it silly that we need to kill 500 or more hooligans on talus and not 1 drop?????

up the drop rate.. since we cant get miss from theese guys and only have to be either at poi(thats spaw only evry 20min, or find them in the wild )

something I don't like about the recyclers is the fact the near uselessness of some of the actual floral types for example. i tried to use a "Mixed Fruit" ( a recycled fruit stack ) in a food item that requires a "fruit" to be crafted, and it wouldn't let me. i guess this means it can only be used in an organics slot, but this was a real disappointment.

also, when an egg was recycled in a creature recycler, it turned into meat! in goes Dantooine animal egg - out comes processed meat... not only is that nauseating to think about, but those hard to stack eggs that are needed for some chef components really need it.

I'm still trying to get the blue wire needed to make my rock tumbler, but im hoping that this one is not bugged/intentionally restricted so that i can use it in my wall modules.

anyways, that's all i have to say about that :S

"recycler are good- how much better would you have them? like evry thing you put in get stats of 500 or higher?"

Yes, this would be a good start, at least with 500 stats, the resource is mildly useful and won't negate any high quality resources you put in.

It would not be difficult to have the resource recycler convert stuff to any existing resource (like the resource crates only limited to current resources available on the galaxy), but perhaps you would have to make it a random selection of existing resources.

You could just get stats equal to that good avian that spawned on Talus, for instance. Then those little stacks could be added to something you are currently collecting to feed your factories.

And for you generics, I didn't get into crafting to make wall modules!!! LOL! When I want to make wall modules, I mine several 100k of whatever crap ore is local to my area. Don't get me started on the bungled profession of Architect either.

You ENTIRELY missed the point of the recyclers. They don't make GOOD resources, they make a LOT. They are perfect for smugglers like me, where stats don't matter.

I would have to agree with the post. In my opinion if you combine 2 leftovers the stats should average out between the 2 resources you are using and how much of one is being added to the other. That would seem a better way of coming up with stats for combined resources.

chicken beaks, skin, and a cockroach = a hot dog

higher quality meats = kosher products
