I was wondering, seeing as I will sometimes see someone now with a backpack on that looks completely new, sort of round-ish with two or three orange lightbulb like things on it, one person said it was a "chiss poacher's pack". Is this true, if so, where do you get one and are there more new backpacks etc?

It's the Chiss Hunter's Backpack. It's the only new one and, from what I understand, it's a ROTW Kashyyyk quest. Not sure about specifics, though.

what quest is that backpack?

The quest starts with Mada Johnson (think that is the name) to find brody johnson. This quest sends you all over, a guide is prolly available somewhere and ends with a task to clear the hracca glade of the chiss poachers and kill the kkorrwrot in the glade.

I belive she is on the 3rd lvl of the tree in kachiro
