Is it me or has the game become completely unrewarding in terms of loot recently. The loot system seems to be flawed, I have spend precious hours of my life carefully battling elders and Krayts to be rewarded with nothing, or worse than nothing dragon scales. I have been on countless hunting parties to the GEO cave and never even seen an acklay bone. I have hunted and killed GDK's and never seen a single scale.
Sometimes you get useless loot, which is just rubbing salt into the wound. I looted an LVA last night with three +15 mods, accuracy and stun defence, Great whoopee its shame its the slowest LVA I have ever seen and given its damage rating you would expect to have trouble using it kill a nuna.
My personal favourite tho, has to be fighting through a cave "dungeon" and looting a treasure trove to be told....This container is locked or even better you get a Grenade Experimentation CA....Yippee more useless loot.
I have alot of RPG experience, both paper and computer based, I was playing and coding DIKU II muds with a more coherent loot system than SWG has 10 years ago. One of my favourite games of all time Fallout had a very simple loot system if the guy you were fighting was using something then there was a good chance you could loot it. So why don't we try that....
You are fighting a Thug with chitin armour and a cdef chances are you are going to loot a CDEF pistol or a piece of Chitin armour. Poor quality but relevent to what you just killed
90 mins killing a giant Krayt, a pearl, tissues or something guranteed would be pretty cool.
An hour figting an elder with a power hammer....I want my powerhammer and it better be pretty good quality.
Kill a GDK get a scale....call me an idiot...but have 9 out of 10 GDK's been descaled?
Kill a black sun wearing BH armour....what do you reckon...a peice of BH armour maybe?
its only a suggestion mind, the fact it makes perfect sense and its backed up by just about every rpg in history. Please Just think it through you know it makes sense.
You can stiill keep the exceptional stuff exceptional, just make sure that we get some good or premium stuff when we fight the big stuff. Last night I killed two elders, about 50 assorted nightsisters and came out of it with nothing useful. I killed a couple of Krayts and got some scales that an armoursmith friend assures me are useless.
I don't want to waste my gaming time on unrewarding pursuits, I like the challenge of solo'ing big Mobs, but I want some reward for my time and effort.
Thats it rant over.

As much as I hate to say this, but I think you have lost your mind. While I agree that looting of weapons should make more sense then they currently do a MUD is far different than the system you are currently playing in. You have crafters.....start making items drop that are better than crafters can make and see how many people are pissed off.
Krayts and Pearls....shoot I got out with 4 other people and we all get at least 1 pearl in a buff session....I say at least...and that is taking out Ancients also.
Again I agree that sometimes things don't make sense, but they ahve to have those things...a weaponsmith might actually need a grenade experimentation for Commandos to use grenades. The system is much more complex and the DEVS are trying to do something to keeep the economy of SWG intact. If they wanted it the way you are looking for it then they would remove all crafting professions from the game and you could loot your armor off the black sun and loot weapons off of stormies instead of going out and purchasing them.
I like the loot system although I think thinks like Treasure Maps should give you something other than CDEF pistols and Carbines. But loot off of the higher NPCs don't necessarily always have to drop good items.

What about those of us who have 2-3 person teams that can take out Giant and Ancient Krayts in 6-9 minutes? Wouldn't that kind of be overkill for us to get good loot with that kind of frequency?

Grenade experimentation doesn't work....Like a number of other CA's but you still loot em..
And as for the crafter...they are all afk grinding jedi

I agree in part to what you've said in terms of frequency of drops, especailly when factoring group hunts.
But the stuff you do get should be useable.
What is the point of a useless LVA with great mods. I would rather have an average LVA with average mods.
It might just be me, but having gone to the effort of killing something big and looting a yellow weapon only to have it turn out to be useless does leaveme feeling unfulfilled. It just belittles the accomplishment somewhat.
I agree we need to support Crafting and use as many crafted goods as possible, but creatures should drop useful resources for crafters the problem is that so much of it is junk that the average Crafterwon'twant.
My greatest find to day has been a +5 Armour experimentation CA, absolutely useless for me but worth 5 million to a weaponsmith. I did find a +15 Grenade experimentation CA and was elated until I found it the skill is broken...I have looted about 10 Grenade experimentation since, my argument is that if all the broken stuff was taken out so when you did loot you only looted working stuff the game would be more satisfying.

Oh yeah... broken stuff should definitely go away, but I am to the point where I don't think that the DEVs know how to fix it. All of the broken mods I can think of have been around since the game was released and think that if they knew how to fix it they would have. The coder(s) who created the loot tables for CAs and AAs probably left and no one can sort it out. It's sad and shameful really.
