I know it is something about changing one resource to another, but I have no idea how or why to do that. Does it change its stats, make it better, is it useless? I'm just wondering because I have seen a few topics about them, and I have a few schems for them. I also have some necessary materials for them, and was wondering if I should bother doing anything with them.

Essentially, metal recyclers make "scrap" metal that can be placed into one stack.
Let's say you are grinding, and you need 75 units of metal, and 25 units of chemical.
After a session of grinding, you've got 13 units of one type of steel, 52 units of another type of steel, 11 units of yet another type of steel, and sadly, 74 units of one last type of steel.
With a metal recycler, you could put all those small stacks in, and get out 150 units of "recycled" steel. The stats are 200 on all stats, but for things where quality doesn't matter, recycled metals come in quite handy.
I even know some people who get a master artisan to make a 1000 run schematic for swoops using recycled steel/aluminum. 1500 HP, and you can use the cheapest metals you can get ahold of, recycle them, and NEVER run out of materials.
Architects like using the ore recyclers since walls take obscene amounts of ore, and the quality doesnt matter.
