Thread: Loot System Revamp!

I think the system needs to be revamped to allow more drops of higher quality items and less drops of things that are to no value of anyone, all based on the level of the spawn of course. TO FURTHER go into detail of what i mean, here is a basic example. The other day i went out hunting 111's on Dantoonie for the loot of course and i managed to take down a few. Out of a total of 6 or so i recieved nothing but "a cloke". Based on the skill level and the basis of any other looting system in anyother Online RPG, i should have recieved at least a Quality Crystal or something of high value like a nice CA/AA +10 or above. Unlike most FUN online RPG's, SWG has Never shown this aspect to game play in my full lifetime of playing this game (two years).


The Question at hand: Now for most of you, your reasoning by not allowing decent drops per kill is based on an inflation matter on weather or not high end frequency drops are justifiable for the economy. Well hear me out on this... If you allow more High End Drops of Crystals and CA/AA and various other items, then you would notice that high end Items will stop selling for 10mill+ each and really start to lower the in game inflation. What you NEED to do is to make new various High Quality loots to allow for the difference in the increased spawn drops, which in turn will keep each loot at a high value for the lack of the random drop, but also will allow a high end player who manages to kill a 111+ to recieve something worth while after each kill.

I don't see where loot drops can cause inflation ... it's just TRADING credits. Inflation is an INCREASE in the creditsupply, while DEFLATION is the opposite. That's controlled by missions and space credits and loot (and maybe asteroid resources to NPCs) vs. the credit sinks.

MY TAKE ON THIS MATTER (for whats its worth)


everyone love loot (if its not junk and pointless)


with caps on everything whats the point really...personally i know of no one that compained about overpowered weapons just bs dots


what needs to happen is soe needss to notice the search of uber is a ongoing on that will always give someone something to look for/do .....all templates need to be just basic skills its retarded to make someone powerful cuz they threw nades at quakers.everyone would progress consisently unless u reach peak of uber..


BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH BALANCING...is to many skills for xp but biggest is soes grouping lust i have always been pistoleer made for support therefore defs and stuff sucked put it like this before cu with 90% comp food 3200 buff i could barely solo a juvie because i was made for others not myself if u want balnce then u cant make everyone co dependant


all loot weapons out in with components if we want uber we need crafters to do it they have nothing to do now anyways...no hard caps excepts armor make all armor craftable the same other each needs different loot aditives...... and once a uber weapon is made who ever arms it is solo owner. uber things cant be traded.....and get rid of CU make changes u should have done in the first place..we arnt so stupid we need numbers to know what to attck CU has made everything dull as hell combat sucks loot sucks pvp sucks. all u needed to do was revamp templates if worst comes to worst with skills make them looted anything but CU nightmare. ..dots are gone good ...bring back buffs but make them last threw pvp till time runs out not on death...armor all can be crafted equally dependant on resources additives...


ok im ranting sorry but really games dieing nerfing stuff that didnt need to be nerfed wh ycant u add not subract soon well be to 0


anyway with uber back always something to look for looted weapons are bs make more loot that can be crafted into stuff for extra kicks heath shards gawd

I agree the loot in SWG needs to be turned up a notch. I agree that uber loot needs to be added to balance the loot drops. I also agree that loot does effect the economy of SWG greatly because if people can loot their own stuff the price of simple loot that currently is outrageously priced will drop due to Supply and demand. Because of the CU mission credits have dropped and therefore new players cannot afford many of the nice (but relatively insignificant) loots in the game. For example, posters, they drop randomly you don't necessarily have to fight a top end mob to get them yet people sell them for 500K credits. Ridiculous! Its a decoration.


As to your rant about the CU. I've played for about 1.5 years now and the CU is great. It forces people to interact, which is the point of a MMORPG in the first place. If you want to solo everything buy an Xbox or a PS2 and Knights of the Old REpublic I and II and solo your Star Wars heart out. SWG was built to have people from everywhere interacting in a digital playground and the CU has done just that. Its taken the old world of little interaction and soloing grinding greedy players and forced them to live in an environment where they almost have to depend on others to get what they want. Sure at times this is difficult cause your buddy is not online and you are and you want to do a level 84+ double elite or higher. Get over it the CU did some good combat balancing. If there was one problem with the CU it was with the total destruction of the entertainment and crafting professions. The CU destroyed doctor, entertainers, and other crafters. But for combat it has leveled the playing field significantly.

Loot is crap atm , but it needs to be because almost eveything can be soloed



Until things like Ancient Krayts , Gorax's and NS Elders are made more difficult to kill things should be left as they are otherwise everyone will have uber/rare loot making the loot not very uber and not very rare

Perfectly said. There is nothing to play for now.


And as the other guy posted yes everything is to easy now. Elders acklay krayts were soloable before but took alot of time invested to get gear good enough for it then learning how to do it. The cu reduced everything to 20-40k ham? Thats a joke everything is killed in under a minute or two. Group hunts are not as fun as they used to because there is no reward.
