It turns the building you have it in into a med center. Anyone who says otherwise obviously doesn't have one

What is the basis for this? Plus: Since you can already do anything inside any player building that you can do inside a med center (or cantina for that matter) how can you tell? As far as I can tell, it's just decoration.

Wrong. If you buy 1 and put it in your house as a decoration, and you are not a doctor and there is nothing to do with healing/ buffing, etc going on in your place, its obviously not a med center...

While its true that medical centers aren't offering a whole lot of bonus to buffing and healing, when you idle in one wounds, battle fatigue go down. So if you had a bacta tank in your house, and it turned the building into a med center equilavent, you could use it to slowly heal yourself.

I put fish in mine and one of the new looted streetlamps makes a nice glow at night.

Phase 4 Silvarra's (sp) quest must be at least novice medic. Check the force sensitive forum for the walkthru. (stickied to the top on one of them threads)

I can see by your caps that you're very serious about your answer. However, that's not what a med center does. Your wounds slowly subside IN A MED CENTER.

So you all drive all the way out to a house with a bacta tank so you can slowly, slowly, slowly get rid of your wounds? That is a great idea, sincereal medical centers are so hard to find. I'm sticking to my guns.
Bacta Tank as a decoration/fish tank > slowly, slowly, slowly healing wounds.
Perhaps it does do the second, but man, what a lame reason to want one. A fish tank on the other hand...
