When can you wear armor? Of course I bought some when I first started and couldn't wear it and was told I needed an elite prof to wear it. Now I got Novice Pistoleer and bought another armor and I can't wear that one either. Do I need to master an elite profession? Also once I can wear armor can I wear any armor or just certain ones? Is there any way to know before you buy it if you can wear it? Thanks.

There are 3 types of armor: Battle, Asault, and Recon. Recon armor is what pistoleers use. Ubese and Tantel as well as Imperial Scout and Rebel Recon armor are all considered recon armor. Once you reach novice, you should be able to equip your armor but will suffer considerable accuracy and movement penalties until you reach mastery.

Yes in the skill boxes of whatever profession you have it should say what type of armour it provides mitifgation for. pistoleer i do believe is a recon amour cert. that means you can wear tantel, ubese or mabari. if you are low level in your profession and still grinding it might be worth getting a standard set of armour as apposed to advanced, this will allow an acceptable amount of protection and not too much movement hinderance. advanced armour on a toon with only 1 or 2 elite boxes will run very slowly.
just for your info b/h and commando use assault, rifleman pistoleer smuggler and a few others use recon, and ranger doc most melee cm andch use battle armour.

That helps. I bought the wrong kind I guess. Is the advanced stuff going to have "advanced" somewhere in the description? Thanks.

in my experience most armour sold, especially in sets, are advanced unless otherwise stated. as an armoursmith it just isnt worth the time to make runs of basic or standard. probly you best bet and what happens to me alot is, go to the bazaar and buy some standard or basic cores of whatever type you want, in pistoleer case recon, but mostly you will find battle. then take these (you will need about 11, in a stack or with the same serial numbers, they usually drop in stacks of 7 or 8 so two stacks) then take these to an armoursmith and ask them to make them into what ever type you need. they csn usually do it on the spot if they have the apperance resources on them. when this happens to me i usually charge a little or nothing at all .. depends what mood im in

oh also the protection is an indicator of advanced or not, caped avanced battle wiil be 6k all round, caped assault be 7k 6k 5k and recon will be 5k 7k 6k. i think standardis about half that protects.
