i read in posts that the datapad housing things were broken and after putting in all the parts on mine and it saying 4/5 contents and it not working i thought the same until i looted a 2nd one and did this..

First i dropped in the Datapad battery, then the Datapad Backlight, then the Datapad connectors then LAST the broken datapad and it turned into Datapad(empty) so i pulled everything out of my old one and put them in this order and vuala it worked again

now the empty Datapad says it has 0/5 contents and says it needs a working datadisk so the contents could be read.

Anyone have info on what this is supposed to be? Im sure im not the only one thats done this but its the first i heard of them being put together, at least now we know for sure they are not broken

You can get corrupt datadisks from corpses and datadisk repair kits i belive these fix the disks then you put it into the datapad......Im not sure what that will do like, it may blow up in your face if your not careful

I completed a datapad and datadisk prior to CU, when you put the datadisk in, you obtain a fiction bitsimilar tothe ones looted in space.

Worth nothing and the onlypossitive thing is that when you see it after the efford wasted in getting the connectors, backlight and case, your bloodlust reaches extreme levels and you don't stopkilling things for a while.

if it helps any i looted 3 connectors in about a 4 hour period running the aa'kuan misisons on talus trying for SEA's its something to do while waiting for the next attachment hehe the connectors are deffinately more rare than all the other parts excluding the actual housing itself for me so far ive gotten 2 housings and about 6 connectors probably 5broken datapads 20 batterys/backlights

ALright, I'll run more Aukuan missions. Can't hurt to get a little change either and maybe a nice SEA.

I need connectors still =( Dozens of everything else, cept glowy screen thing, have only looted one of those. I should try vendersearch but that takes the sport away hehe. Need a damn tumble blender or schematic too for my chem recycler =p

Some of the "stories" that these completed datapads create are "parts".... I believe the name of a couple of them I have are something like... Brave Hunt part 1, Brave Hunt part 2. What would really be fun is if each of these stories gave clues to be decrypted - sort of like a scavenger hunt, so that say... you had all the parts of the story in your inventory, and figured out that they were apparently referring to a certain waypoint on some planet... you go there, and an NPC spawns and gives you a reward, or a special quest. Now THAT would be content!

i just fixed a corrupted data disk -> datadisk, and broken datpad parts -> datapad (empty).. i put the two together and it created a "data storage unit" (same appearance as a broken datapad).. in the examine window all it says is "Datapad Device"..

Holding mouseover on the item shows it is simply an "Item"

also, brings up radial menu options 1-Use, 2-Examine, 3-Destroy

i'm afraid to use the "use" option lest it be a one-use type of thing.. but basically now i'm stuck.. i think droid eng's can make data storage units, but i'm guessing this is different from those?
