I am new to the game (about two months) and earlier in the week I purchaed a brand new suit of composite armor (all in the up 40k range for max condition). Throughout the week my armor (head/chest/legs mostly) would take damage. I looked on the market and found a "100" armor repair kit thinking it means 100% success chance. Well it doesn't. I'm lucky to get a 1 in 4 "fully repaired with minor blemishes."

I read on the forums that someone saw old style repair kits with a "power" rating, thinking I had one of those I bought a 99.8% style kit and tried it on my 4 arm peices. I got a 1 in 4 success in repair losing 5%, two lost 20% and the last lost 35%. My repair successes are similar on my head/chest/legs. About a 1 in 4 total success losing 20-35% each time in the others with my legs being broke on last try and my head and chest being of very low max quality now (13k).

So, what is the point in spending millions in getting specialty armors with amazing stats when at best the items will last one week? Am I doing something wrong?

Now, I started messing around with buying clothing attachments for repair. I have noticed clothing attachments that list "armor repair" and "repair".. what is the difference? I see that in the Armorsmith tree there is zero listing for any "armor repair" skill given - are armorsmiths any better at repairing things than other people? Is it worth 30 million or so to get a +25 in "armor repair" tapes? Would spending 10s of millions more on "repair" tapes too add anything to the effectiveness of armor repair?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Back in the day, armorsmiths were able to reapair at a beeter chance for success. Why they stopped i dont know, think it had to do with armorsmiths charging as much as the armor itself to reapir it, and that meanbt no more armor was being soldreally. I think the armorsmiths called nerf, and the bat swung hard.i am not sure. But, anyone can use the armor reapir tools. BUT BEWARE. As you have found out it doenst always work out.The only advice i can give to you is this really. When your armor is really low on condition, down to i would say a tenth of its max condition, then try to repair it. If it doesnt work then youll need to buy new armor. If it does, then you dont. SEA's that giove bonus to armor repair, Do nothing, so dont waste your mor money or time. Just use it to replca the armor piece that you lost. The bonus'sthe repair kits mean NOTHING as well. So really, it is about a 1/3 or 1/4 chance of it getting reapired or not.So, just go with it the best you can.

If you find some badass armor you want to have, then DONT wear it all the time. Use it for PvP, or for mission where you may need, DONT grind in any really badassed armor. Get you a couple sets, one for grinding and the other for missions and PvP. You will also find out that the most hit pieces of armor are Chest, Helmet and Pants, those will have to be replaced often, but bracer biceps and feet, and gloves you will keep those for a long time really (i have a set of barcers and biceops that still have about half its max condition after i purchased it about a month ago. )

so make sure youn reapir your armor when its low on cond, but not dead.

Make sure you dont use a badassed set of armor for grinding,

and make syure you always have the cash to replace any broekns part (i will sometimes buy 2 chests, 2 helemts, and 2 pants wehn i go out and buy armor.

Aslo, DONT HAVE YOUR SPARE AMROR IN YOUR INVENTORY (cause if you die, it condition gets hurt as well)

Hope i could help you out some.

Thanks alot Kivas.. That answers all of my questions. Right now I'm going to have the "impact" slicing and such done to my next set and see how that works out. I'm glad you noted that about the armor repair tapes or I'd have spent millions on them.

Just thought I'd post this follow-up. After buying new pants to replace my broken ones I went out and fought some monsters naked, with new pants and with broken pants. The broken pants (1/1 condition) took no condition damage and yet still reduced monster damage normally. The new pants too 3 condition damage in my testing and absorbed just like the broken ones. Moral to story, sometimes bugs work in your favor.. *shrug*

Its not that I'd like this bug to stay - I'd just like it to hang around until a better repair option is provided.

In my experience Armor Repair and/or Repair Mods work. My guild has a Repairsuit with +19 wep rep / +15 Armor rep and +14 repair mods and all pieces i repaired with it and the 99.99999 tools no matter how low the condition already was are repaired to about 90% or higher of the base condition the armor or weapon had.

Without that suit i failed very often at repairing items. Specially items with low condtition. However these are my and the experience of my guildis but we could be wrong....
