Thread: Can we get an SEA converter?

We need an NPC that will accept our old "broken" SEAs and give us back usable new SEAs of equal value.


I have +25 carbine accuracy while moving in2 skill tapes.... These are now useless as this skill doesnt exist anymore. It would be nice if there was an NPC that if I traded these to him, I would get the option to trade for carbine accuracy or carbine speed tapes.


I spent a lot of money getting that extra +25 accuracy while moving, it stinks that they are now useless.


There are other examples of skill tapes that are now useless.


another example, I had a Nyax neclace with +5CM effectiveness, and an clothing SEA with +7 CM effectiveness.


after the CU, the neclace converted to +5 Medical warfare efficiency, but the SEA did not convert.


And I bet there is someone out there with +25 droid customization ... wouldnt it stink to be the guy holding on to this on?


The last thing this NPC should do is allow you to get the skill you want out of a multi skill tape. If you had a tape with 3 skills: +25 polearm accuracy, +10 weapon experimentaion, +9 weapon assembly. It would be nice to be able to take this to the NPC and get a skill tape back with only ONE skill... so you could get that +10 weapon experimentation out ot the tape.



I think this would be a very simple thing to add in to the game. Have the NPC only accept "broken" skill tapes, and then they would only trade for similar skill tapes. IE: a combat tape for a combat skill, a medical tape for a medical skill, a crafting tape for a crafting tape .. etc...

great idea, however seeing that skill tapes never really have worked as intended, some are where/have all ways been broken skills, i doubt they are gonna look at it. I would love it, as for I'm in same boat for pistol/carb speed/acc w/moving/aiming bonuses.

All mods that are shown on the SEA are sticking now, unless you place multiple of the same SEA into articles of clothing. Keep in mind, if theSEA has 3 mods on it, it will take up 3 slots on the article of clothing. That covers your last point.


About the first point, I'm not sure how you would decide what it should convert to, if anything it should just be data the devspath in. If it's +25 Carbine Accuracy while moving it should convert to General Ranged Accuracy IMO, or just Carbine Accuracy.

I agree fully with you LemiOkeaf, there should be a way to convert skilltapes to the new system.


Hopefully the devs will want to take the opportunity to get old junk out of the system to show that they are serious about listening to the community. By doing this they would both please the veterans of the game and newcomers wont be so confused about what works and doesn't (besides not get cheated into buying broken skill-mods).


About what the mods should be replaced with I would like to have an open dialogue with the developers about this, BEFORE they implement it, let it take 1 month extra. As it is right now I feel that it is the community that has the knowlegde about what works and doesn't when it comes to SEAs, we have heard many "It should work..." before...


There is alot of other fixes that has more prio than this, but if we could get an ETA on a SEA convert system it would be great.


(I would hate to see my +25 carb accuracy be turned into a +25 defense vs dizzy... )

Has anyone actually confirmed that alot of these old mods no longer work? Example: Though we no longer have a base resist to say stun, the defender line give +65 to state resist to all states. Would this not indicate that the formula is still working, thus alot of these sea's still work?

Also, the old mods are still dropping. I can confirm this as I recently looted a ca with a def vs kd +2.

Have Junk Dealers posted in SP's for the conversion.


The system could be based on skill type and function.


The conversion should work on a 5 to 1 bases with the option to pick what best suits your class skill.


Trade in a +2 def verse kd, +1 block, and a +2 Alertness and receive a +1 aa/ca (needed skill). Build from their.


If SOE thinks we will ruin this or exploit the aa/ca's for sale, all converted aa/ca's can be bio-linked just like faction armor. This way, use it or lose it.


I have 30+ aa/ca's in storage that are worthless to me now. NPC's are still dropping worthless crap. At lease work something out!

i have a whole bunch of DEF VS. +5 skill tapes .. it would be nice to at least be able to convert these to Melee or Ranged Def +5

I was thinking that we could make a list of all the skilltapes that exists (pre-CU) and check what skilltapes is working now.


The ones that isn't working we could give suggestions on what they should convert to.


Example:"Counter-attack"SEA could branch out and be either a carbine defense or a fencer defense tape.


I will start to compile a list of the skilltapes that exists and give my thoughts on what they should convert to, but I really hope that others gives feed-back and suggestions too, I hope to have it

up in a day or so.
