Thread: How to solve the AFK/Spammers problem

It really annoys me when i want to go kill something for maybe some good loot only to find AFK campers there. So I have a good idea about how to solve this annoying problem. Why dont the CSRs every now and then patrol these areas ( as they can teleport in and out at will, and they have a birdeye view of the planet) and ban these people for 1-2 days for this act. That way they will think twice about doing this again. Same goes for AFK spammers in citys.

what do yall think??

I think it makes sense but as states in the Ctrl+H holocron AFK macroing is allowed

yeah..SOE has some strange rules about afk people...they seem to encourage it, if u try to get the afk person killed that person can go back to a csr and get u for griefing. And then believe it or not the csr's suspend you. there reasoning is, no spawn site belongs to one person so its fair game. so basically u have to figure out a way to outdamage the afk person, like that is going to happen if they have parked a couple people there in a group. I have found one somewhat effective tool if u see a jedi camping out at a place and being a jerk by killing everything includeing stuff ur trying to kill. Tell him or her that ur private messageing friends of urs that are bounty hunters and such so they can come kill them. Usually the jedi will stay for a couple minutes more and then get out of there. something to try on a jedi at least.

for the spammers, you know there is an option that lets you turn off text from afk players right?... now for spawn campers, that's tricky, outdamaging them is really the only way because in this respect, customer service doesn't exist. and the "AFK players can't attack" thing they patched in failed miserably to do anything about it. and if you want a non-afk jedi to leave somewhere where you wanna kill stuff... don't threaten them, especially if it's an empty threat, that only leads to whining on the boards, and /report's, and csr's crawling up your ass. if you want a jedi gone, by all means call in a pack of bounty hunters, but don't let the jedi know you're doing it, lol.

The AFK campers thing I'm with you on, but as for the spammers, use the 'ignore chat from AFK players' option in the settings. Don't crab about banning them when there is a perfectly good tool at your disposal for dealing with it.

95% of afk spammers have emotes or the like in their macro to keep the afk tag from turning on, making that option useless.

Personally I would be happy if they added a way to ignore all /yell and /shout text. While it wouldnt stop people from going over to /say, it would at least let me not have to hear until I am much closer to a city.

If it was they would not have put up that window for afk surveying.

you can always /addignore the spammers. afk loot bots, who cares, the game has infinite loot.
what i really hate are the spam droids. you can't ignore them. while they do serve a purpose, and i have used them from time to time, get 6 or 7 of them going around a starport and it makes you want to kill someone.

This is very simple if the developers just finally remove recursive macros from the game as previously promised. Macros would still be possible to use but you would no longer be able to loop them they would require a physical keystroke to start each time. Who cares who complains about this it just needs to be done for the sake of the economies and the the over-all game play.
