Items And Loot Archive

One of my ingame friends told me that I could attach the kit to an item and be able to later retrieve the kit by simply destroying the item.

Is this true for all items?

and

If this is true, is it a bug or temprorary thing, OR is it how the developers meant for the item to work?

NO bug!

Thats how the system works!

If you delete the item "insured" - you will get the kit back , but offcourse you will lose the item you destroyed....
