Thread: A notice to all loot hunters (weapon loot specific)

The value of your loot dropped to almost nothing yesterday.
Anything less than the best loot made weapons prices just dropped significantly because most people that buy loot made weapons will save their money and buy the very best inorder to use their anti decay kit.
Previously to this change, there was a 50/50 chance an enhanced weapon would get a damage slice and hence be sellable. Now only the very best slices of the very best loot (maybe 1 in 40 weapons) will sell for high premiums, everything else will be losses for the weaponsmith at current prices.
I assume you all like being able to sell your loot, I liked buying it, please don't fall for this anti-decay kit carrot, it is game breaking and profession breaking.
You may be happy now that your 1K powerhammer doesn't decay, but how happy are you going to be when your PVP opponent has a 2K looted powerhammer, that they will always have and always be able to beat you.
Maybe its great that you can kill krayt's and kill steal the acklay with your crazy weapon, but to what end, the price of your pearls/tissues/bones is worthless because more than likely the market that would have bought it already has better.
I hope I've pointing out adequately how bad this anti-decay kit is to the game.
You make several good points.
I agree that this will significantly reduce the demand for weapons. People will cling to their best weapon and love the idea of never having to use another one. I could go on, but you have already made points such as these very clear, and I totally agree. However, the statement that this is "game breaking and profession breaking" I do not agree with.
There are a few reasons why this is not as bad as it seems at first glance. One is the fact that players change templates. Not all players change templates, but for every player out there that has stuck with their template since they started playing, there are many others that change templates every week. Some may opt to destroy the weapons from their former profession in order to use the anti-decay kit on their new ones, but I would think a large percentage will just leave the kit and weapon as is. When they finish their new template they will need weapons. Weapons that will decay. Then they'll need more weapons, etc.
Another thing that should be considered is the number of anti decay kits being sold. Some people would rather sell them, and they get no more. These people will continue to buy weapons.
I know there are many players out there with alts, those of which will receive multiple kits. I am one of those myself. For those people, depending on the number of alts, may never have to buy another weapon ever again. However, some players do not have alts, and play on multiple servers. These players only get one kit on the entire account, leaving many of their characters kitless.
There are some people who did not even choose the anti decay kit. It boggles me as to why, but I do know of several people who opted for something else, though, to be fair, these people probably were not big weapon consumers.
Also, not every character is a year old. Some people are new, and others have rerolled their character. They will not receive this reward. They will still be an active part of the market.
Do not misunderstand me, I do know this will hurt the market, and I am not particularly fond of that, but in no way do I see at as a "game breaking and profession breaking" change.
Those are just my thoughts on the matter. I could be very wrong.

Loot hunters won't be able to make millions by selling items that they have managed to keep from all the other players via camping, kill stealing, speed hacking or whatever gimic is used now? Good.
It is about time that the camped poi and caves become useful for more than the handful who abuse them now. If you aren't one of these "players", please accept my apology, but I don't have much sympathy for people who have been sellingloot for their money.
what would u have me do with the little bit of loot that drops? destroy, not loot it at all? or perhaps give it away for others to make their money on while leaving me with a sense of satisfaction at a job well done. I probably won't be able to take that sense down to the local WS or AS for goods tho, will I?
On the matter of the kits. one weapon that doesn't decay is not the worst thing in the world. I personally will use it on a nice PH i recently aquired. at 16.5MM, do u blame me for wanting to use it on that particular hammer? It took me a long time to scrape together that kind of juice. With the price of the kits, I doubt that I will have any more than just the one that will be alloted to me. That means that I won't have one for my scythe. I won't have one for any armor pieces. I won't have one for any clothing or jewlery (sure clothing or jewlery currently still work even at zero condition, but that is likely not gonna last forever). And should I ever become a jedi, I might have to loose my hammer to make a LS no-decay.
As pointed out earlier, you have newer players who won't have the kit at all, players that change prof., players that have multiple weapons they use depending on the situation, players that opted to sell the reward and last of all, players that will use it for a LS when that option is made available. LS are not craftable by WS, so there is no income loss there by the proffesion. After a month or so, when this all dies down and the majority of the kits have changed hands to those that will end up keeping them, the impact should be minimal. That's just my 2 credits
