When 2 or more - ungrouped -people are beating on the same mob, how are loot rights determined?

I understand that supposedly the player who does the most dmg gets looting rights but what does this mean exactly?

For example. Let's say a master swords is using headhit and kills the mob doingalmost all (90%)of the totalmind damage, whereas a TKM using unarmed 3 lowers the mob's health by, say,50% and the mob's action by 50%, and the mob's mind pool by say 10%.

The TKM outdamaged the swords in total HAM damage but the swords was the guy who really killed the mob and did the most "deadly" damage - syntax sucks sorry it's late

I am guessing that the TKM would get loot rights. Is this accurate?

If so, what hope in hell do I have as a TKM/swords in outdamaging some rifleman concealed shotacklay camper who parks himself right in the corner logs out and then when it spawns magically reappears, whenI have pause for self-heals and intimidate.

The brilliant idea is the the one who make the more damage have the loot rights. so it opens the door to grief and kill-steal...

but no one cares ..

Well, I'll try to answer best I can...

I cant break it down by numbers like you did...but as far as I can see, whoever does the most OVER ALL damage gets the rights. I've been in a place as a Master Swordsman beating up an NPC and having a Rifleman behind me, dont know what level, I ended up doing more damage, so I got the the rights. I hardly ever use headhit or mindhit.

not sure if that helped any..but i tried

Thanks for the help. I have a follow-up question.

What exactly does SWG define as damage? Is it the base amount you hit the mob for as shown in combat spam, or is it the actual HAM damage the mob takes after all armor/weapon/resistancemodifiers.

Obviously HAM damage is key in killing the mob but I wouldn't be surprised to see SOE having base combat damage being they variable determining loot rights. I will probably test this.

No, its definitalty the HAM you blast of a creature, else a TKA could outdamage someone on a mob with 100% kinitic resist, which it can't

How do bleeds and DoTs - from weapons not CM - figure into the damage calculation?Do players get credit for the dmg their dots do?

bleeds and Dots DO NOT count toward dammage amount

only your attacks / specials

If yourpet is attacking the mob it DOES count toward your total dammage

OK...well I have seen this post enough.

Once and for all...ITS THE GROUP...not the single person. If it was one person...then these guys with the super high dmg rifles would never get unseated...but they do. This is why I don't know why this is debated over and over. Its the group...period.

A friend said he saw a post by a DEV that it is the single person that does the most damage that gets loot rights. So the group with the single person that does the most damage gets the rights. I dunno, just what I heard.

if thats true...then why do people group to outdamage 1 person? That person was outdamaging the one other person before...but now that the person is grouped...the damage is doubled and they take the loot.

hm,lootrights are kind of buggy-sometimes,when i m really sure that i ´ll get loot(solo) i dont,and sometimes when i m 100% sure that i wont get loot,i will...

perhaps group damage counts, when the group deals the same damage type(f.e. a group with 3 riflers with low damage t21 will outdamage 1 rifler with a good t21-all doin energy damage),should test it-but i m not sure about that theorie

you are 99% correct.

In many circumstances IN THE GROUP if you do not do damage to a mob you cannot loot it. This is experienced on thesith at the village.
