Yesterday I got one on the first Elder I killed.
Too bad crystals suck on tuning. Back to krayts for me.

A lot of people think that pearls lean a little toward FC and crystals lean toward damage. This could be true, or it could just be a superstition that people have conditioned themselves to believe. Given the dumb and backward way the devs do things, it is probably the first.

My own personal experience is that crystals tune better. Tuned 3 flawless pearls the other night and not 1 is fit for use

Elders are premium
SMC Gardians are Select
Protectors and Spell weavers are quality
Stalkers and Sentinals are good
Rangers and initiates are fair

IMO premium pearls and crystals tune the same. The reason for going after Krayt is that you might get some decent tissue and the drop rate seem to be a little higher for pearls. Elders have the chance to drop a lot of other cool stuff and i consider them more challenging, as you sometimes aggro the whole spawn. For me, usually hunting with 2 to 3 people its 3min per Elder 6min per krayt, i enjoy hunting them both.

ya, elders are defenently a hell of a lot more challenging. I can tank 3 canyons while my friend strafe2's them. I would never ever even think of tanking 2 elders. I get nervous when I have to fight an elder and a protector at the same time. Krayts are no problem at 1000 bf. Elders get very challenging at 500 BF. Krayts are defenently the way to go.

Flawless pearls have been pretty crappy for me, tuned about 15 I guess in the past 3wks or so and only 1 was really usable. Stick to premiums for the win.
I'm always a little surprised people bother going after crystals these days, since we know specifically which krayt drop which grade pearl -- do we know that about NS & crystals too? Maybe krayt are just easier for me, hrm.
