Thread: Devs, why bother putting looted weapons in that nobody in their right mind would use?
I did a quest on Mustafar last night and recieved a pistol rated for combat level 55 and master pistoleer to use it. Now, with these requirements, it is one of the highest rated pistols in the game, yet it's damage was 200 points lower or so from the FWG that I use now.
Why would someone use this weapon when just about any other pistol in the game is better? Why even bother?

...and it specifically states that because of the attributes of this weapon it cannot be sliced, nor can powerups be used on it ![]()
As a pistol it's not that good, as a decoration in my weapons room its quite cool.
The 'quest' was very very simple though to be fair so you wouldn't expect an brilliant reward for doing it.

There are several other weapons that fit this same description, and become good decorations for your house.
Actually that is a fair point.
To be honest the Devs can't win. If they make these weapons 'useful' then the weaponsmiths would be up in arms ![]()

If they don't then people will quite rightly say whats the point of them?

But that pistol... I looked at it then went and looked at a scatter I had in my back pack. I don't use the scatter because I have an ALR that's a lot better, but compared to my scatter the thing was junk. Then I read the no slice and PU clause.
Not like I was planning on going to the trouble of collecting all the parts and finding a smuggler to slice this bad boy but jeez, sliced and PU'd it would still be worse then unsliced un pu'd scatter. But thank God they are bio linked. I could still sell it. I could still use it. But I can't use it then sell it and we all know that’s what really screws up the game. All these people that use an item and want to sell it, they are the problem and must be stopped all costs.

I didn't see anyone mention one of the biggest problems that I have seen with the Mustafar weapons so far. SAC cost. I think the pistol you mention above, at least the one I recieved, has a SAC of 107. LOL. On a pistol. IF you could SAC pup this, then maybe it would find a use, but the fact that you can't powerup it or slice it means what you have is what you have....which in this case is a fancy paper-weight! Can you say, WORTHLESS!
The DEV's had options that could have kept crafters happy and looters happy. What about this pistol in question, if it did say less damage than a typical pistol you could have made (FeatherWt FWG comes to mind) but maybe the SAC on it is lower than possible witha crafted weapon. Then someone could give up damage but gain a weapon with really low SAC...that might fit their style of fighting. Many folks would still want the high damage pistol...while some would like the special low SAC pistol. Just tossing that outas one quick example.
For the sake of our game longevity I hope the weapons that can be crafted from this planet are at least on par with current craftable weapons or else massive revolt comes to mind!!
Has anyone ever mentioned a RE on looted weapons, that way you can actually make your own personl unique weapon that is like none other. have the image be a coice of the different weapons you use for the RE, this would make the looters happy, since they still eed to loot the items, and the WS's are happy since they need to re them. this would allow people to actually use those worthless loots that *look cool* but do nothing else, and in another expansion or 2 with all the new worthless items ill have used all 10 lots and all that will be in them are junk weapons that look cool, but can never use.
just an idea, i hope that they find a way to do this

That's where mine is going-- on the wall.
I don't read guides and do the quests at random so they are a surprise, so when I picked this as my first quest, and I am a Master Gunfighter, I did a little dance when this pistol was the reward.
Before I rushed to bio-link it, I looked at it. Wait... That can't be right. My Scatter, FWG, and Republic Blaster all have better damage.
All the pistols from the Avatar platform are still the most uber in my inventory, but I don't like shooting lightning out of a satellite dish, so back to the Scatter.
The sad thing is they could have done something special with these items like give them a low energy/kinetic damage value and a really nice heat elemental damage value that would actually mean something against the heat protections most armors employ. Heck, even a 1-2 use schematic would have been more useful.
Ok, rant done, just wanted the devs to know I prefer my decorations to be decorations and not weapons.
