Thread: Nyax and Krayts Part of the New Try, Try Again Philosophy

HEADLINE NEW YORK - Unfortunately, the NHL has followed the example of Baseball and completely canceled their 2005 season due to labor disputes. This seems to be an infectious trend. As we all know, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) and the Developer's Union (DU) were unable to come to an agreement on team salary caps, free agency and drug testing. This lead to a walkout by the Developers.

Never fear, SWG fans! Unlike the NHL, SOE has hired a team of amateur developers fresh out of high school to act as strike busters until a deal can be reached with the DU. These temps are hard at work bringing the playing public weekly patches, whether they are needed or not.

Of course the temps are not as knowledgeable or skilled with the code as the DU, so SOE is asking that players have some patience with the temporary help. Lacking the skills to actually produce something right on the first attempt, the team has adopted a "Try, Try Again" approach to improving the game. To see how this works, consider Nyax. As a way of showing that they were serious about the drug testing dispute, the DU nerfed Nyax to only spawn once per day at startup. SOE didn't even flinch. After coming on the job, one of the first things the temporary developers did is set Nyax to spawn every 10 mins. This created more problems than it fixed, so they changed it to 20 mins. Still problems. Now Nyax drops absolutely no loot at all. The temps feel that this is a great compromise. Now newer players can go kill Nyax whenever they want, because more seasoned players have already left in disgust. Once the newer players have had their fill, the temps are planning on implementing a +25 SEA 3 min spawn time Nyax to keep the seasoned AFK macroers interested and paying.

The same "Try, Try Again" approach has also been taken with Krayts. Expect to see it followed with decay kits, the GCW, and the Combat Nerf (or Upgrade, as the temps are fond of calling it). You can plan on seeing each concept implemented with gross errors and unbalances, then over fixed to have errors in the exact opposite direction. The temps feel that this rapid back and forth shift keeps the players on their toes. While some players find these extreme swings fun and exhilarating, the rest of us can just hope that amateur day at SOE ends soon.

The preceeding is a satirical post. Don't be a dumbass and respond in a way that lets others know that you swallowed it hook, line and sinker. There is no Developer's Union, and they are not on strike. (Unfortunately) The Developers now are the same developers we have had since the begining. Facts that have not been altered for the sake of satire: It really is amateur day at SOE, and the Devs really have adopted the "Try, Try Again" approach.

If you need the concept of satire, or how this post applies to Loot and Items explained to you, please drop me a PM so that your ignorance isn't displayed publicly for all the world to snicker at.

So what do you all think? Do we really need to just give this time to blow over, or are you sick of amature day at SOE? I read a little about the combat "upgrade" (semantics are such cute things) and i honestly get excited. I think, ya, i really should keep playing this game instead of getting some Matrix Beta action. Then each new patch hits, and ALWAYS stuff gets F***ed and we need to spend a crapy week rubber banding, or not getting loots, or having vendors eat our stuff, or our armor not working. Am I wrong? Maybethecrazy fluctuations of loot due to nyax and krayts, and theintroduction of decay kitsreallyare part of some larger benificial scheme and will take a little while to evolve.

I hope you amused yourself at least.

Dev's: Can we get the SEA mods that do not work replaced with mods that do? Also, while you're at it, make sure to update the loot table by deleting mods for SEA's that are no longer applicable. Thanks.
