Hello.

I type this from blistered fingers.

Has there ever been an official statement on the difference between Slicing IV and Master Smuggler? The past week, every other tell I get is: "Are you a Master Slicer?" or "Should I get my stuff sliced by a Master Smuggler instead of you?".

Which could prompt several differet responses on my end.

1. "No where can I find documented, OFFICIALLYthat Master Smuggler's get better bonuses for Slicing than someone with Slicing IV."

2. "I've gone as far as I can possibly go up the Slicing tree, so yes, I'm a Master Slicer."

3. "According to the Smuggler forums, a vast majority of the people there state that Master Smuggler's have a higher chance of a better slice, and have a better range. Many of these aforementioned people are highly respected by the Smuggler community. To be honest, however, this is somewhat contested, and is not backed by any Dev statement, and can not be found anywhere in the strategy guide, or in the in-game Smuggler skill tree descriptions."

What a royal pain in the ass.

Can we get an Official Statement here? This is completely screwed. I Slice to make cash to get gear to hunt with my friends and have fun. As it is now, I spend afar longer amount of time explaining all this to people than I spend actually Slicing, or having fun with my friends. Of course, I can just say "I slice as good as a Master Smuggler", and forgo the 10 minute long effort of explaining this to people, but I want to be honest to any of my client's, and the Smuggler community in large.

Just 1 sentence. Official. Please. Respect to you, San Tsu, but I'm looking for a Dev statement here.

I don't think it's contested at all here that a Master Smuggler gets up to 35% weapon slices and Slicing IV is more like a max of 30%.

I don't think I've seen anyone claim to get better than 30% weapon slices at Slicing IV...

At least this is in the past 3-4 weeks. Some disagreement may be about reported slices prior to that.

Armor slices are more like 45% max for Master and 40% for Slicing IV but I made master before IV was fixed so I'm not exactly sure about that number for IV.

It is true then that a customer has a statistically better chance of a higher % with a master smuggler than with a non-master smuggler. But on any ONE slice a master could slice at a lower % than the Slicing IV smuggler standing next to him...so *shrug* it's true that it's wiser to have a master smuggler do the slice.

It's also very very rude for a master smuggler to butt in on someone elses transaction..unless maybe the customer is being out and out lied to. Anyone that lies in vicinity is just asking to be jumped on. (not accusing you of doing this obviously)

Hmmm... I just figured, regardless of any official statement, it remains a FACT that Master Smugglers do get a bonus to slicing perccentages. That doesn't meanMaster Smugglercan't still get low slices.They just have a better chance of getting higher ones than just a Slice IV smuggler.

So, that's it... Master Smuggler's get better slices because they say they do. Granted, if I was a Master Smuggler, and had been slicing for months, and was dead-certain I had my facts straight, I'd be rolling my eyes at my post as I'm sure a lot of you are. "Yes, Jorahn, you idiot, who better than to know the facts than the people who are doing the slicing?" Hell, I'd even go as far to say the actual gamers know more about the profession that the people who designed them!

However... I want an Official statement. For the love of *insert religous preference here*, wouldn't you Master Smuggler's like to see a STOP to the posts asking for the difference between Slicing IV and Master Smuggler? Hell, I'm sick of seeing them! Aren't you? So, let's get an Official response. If a Dev were to come into this thread, say ,"Jorahn, you whiny-ass bastage Huttspawn. Master's get better slices. Period. Now go bitch in another forum." I would be ever OH SO happy.

Ok lets challenge. We will each slice 100 identical cdef pistols. The one with the highest slice at the end wins the bet for lets say 500,000 credits. Im 100% sure of this, not a matter of "they say they do" cuz I have sliced at slicing 1 2 3 4 and Master. So whats up let me know when you ready to contest.

I cannot believe how many of these posts are cropping up now'adays. folks, its not rocket science. We arn't asking alot of you, its not some big friggen conspiricy.

Tier 4:
Weapons: 12-30 -FACT
Armor: 9-35 -FACT

Master Smuggler:
Weapons: 14-35 -FACT (although the minimum of 14 is contested, but i have yet to see lower.)

Armor: 10-45 -FACT (45 is the cap, but 10 is contested again and again, but i figure staying safe and low-balling it than saying 12 and being wrong.)

there is no official statement, a dev has not said anything about it other than holo saying 35 is the max on weapons, end of story.

When you proove to me otherwise, I will eat my words, until then, stop begging for official posts, because this is a fact, plain and simple.

Whoah, settle down there! Challenges abound! I didn't say I wanted to *go up against* anyone! I simply want an Official stated fact that Master Smuggler's get better slices than Slicing IV! I don't want to get in a pissing match, I don't want to argue w/ you Master Smuggler's, in fact, I'm 99 percent certain you all slice better than Slicing IV. I just want to hear it stated somewhere. And not by you. Like, in a Strategy Guide, an Official post, or (God forbid) it be mentioned in the in-game Smuggler skill tree description.

Well you have it Green Marine has informed me that Master Smugglers do indead get a bonus to both weapon and armor slicing.

lol do you know what the word FACT means? it means absolute truth; no dispute.Ifsomething is highly contested, and this is...kinda hard to call it fact isn't it? Especially when there's been no Official post to state otherwise. (whichI believe is the whole point of the thread =) And even if there was an official post, I remember getting average 10-15% slices at slicing 4 and 20-25% at slicing3, even though the skill itself said slicing4 was supposed to be better lol Anyways, thanks San for the re-assurance from GreenMarine on the subject =)
