Thread: Poor man's Loot Runs

Obviously there are wondrous places where the special, dedicated, flush-with-cash-and-prime-equipment might hunt, such as NS Caves, Geo cave, Nyax, Fort Tusken, DWB, etc. But what about the lower tier folk who haven't the money or equipment to compete damage wise on a Nyax spawn or elsewhere? What are the loot options for random encounters, is what I am wondering.

For myself, I understand pretty well that I am not going to be outdamaging anyone anytime soon on these precious spawns, so I opt for walkabouts on planets looking for NPCs to take down, and or pull missions with these NPCs for loot. I used to think that the Aa'kuan cave was too low quality on the totem pole to have many people wandering through it, yet I have never seen it empty of PCs (though almost always empty of Aa'kuans).

Walkabouts on Dathomir are fine, and there are the Aa'kuan missions on Talus, and pulling faction missions can get you some ranged weapons with moderate poisons, but what else is out there? On the ground, I mean. JtL is a different beast entirely, and selling loot from there is profitable if mainly because one is paying upkeep on their ship rather than several sets of buffs, food, armor, weapons, etc.

C'mon, some help for the little guy?

Actually, nightsisters are not that hard if you stick to a few at a time and only ns rangers and below. You can get decent loot and they are fun.

Go to the Labor outpost and kill the sentinels and initiates and rangers that spawn outside the cave. I wouldnt go in though unless your good with your prof because you can get mobbed.

TKM is awesome for these things.

Good point, that is usually how I have been judging the NS NPC spawns... on my last walkabout I took down, all in isolated incidents, 2 rangers, 1 ravager, 1 initiate, 3 rancor-trainers (only one had a Rancor with her, go figure). Also, my template has changed from MRanger / MSwordsman to TKM / 4000 Commando for the FS Grind.Underneath that I have retained 4440 Scout, just to fascilitate thereturn to Ranger grind.

I am wondering if there is anything worthtackling on Endor or Yavin just traveling about the surface. I am hearing good things about running Faction missions as well.

You can always try to track Black Sun. they spawn near the Dath Imp Prison and South of NS stronghold and in the NW corner of Yavin.

Whats your Template? If your Swordsman or Rifleman with some Medic you should be able to take on most mobs in the game solo.

I find Geo Caves very good for loot and usually loot 1mil plus worth a Geo Cubes\Pastes when I'm down there. Sets of 7 Yellow Cubes and Pastes tend to go for 300k plus on our server and alwaysthe chance of looting a decent Geo pistol or dxr6 rifle. If you have any elite combat prof and some medic you should be fine - one you get in then its pretty easy to run round the rooms that spawn the Crazed Geonosians and the Mercs. You could always just camp otu the first bit of the cave as well, as 4 Crazed Geonosians respawn every few minutes there. Just watch out as they quite often pull out a Geo Pistol on you and if you have no stun armour you can get hit quite hard.

NS Forced Labour camp or Stronghold are also pretty good as well, just try and pick them off a few at a time. And make sure you examine them first as some of the NS are 100% resistant to a lot of types of damage. (swordsmen are ok with all of them)

Another easy way of making cash from low end mobs is to go to the Woolamander Temple on Yavin or King Gurk hunting on Lok. They drop RIS loot (occasionally) and this sells for a reasonable ammount. Go to Woolamander temple, and once your at the entrance the Woolamander Harrowers that drop the loot spawn in the far right of the temple (2 of them)- they respawn about every 15mins or so now and sometimes drop the Bone Fragments used in RIS. On Lok look for Gurk spawns that have a Feral Gurk in them (shows as red on radar) and keep hitting the nest and it should spawn a Gurk King kill this and loot it and it may drop the King Gurk Hides used in RIS.

Lok is a nice change of pace for looting. Canyon Corsairs (particularly the captains) drop SEA's, agitator motor schematics, and crystals. Gurk kings and GDK's of course drop RIS components. Nym NPC's drop WS enhancements. Bloodrazors also drop some recycler schematics. And mercenaries have been know to drop weapon enhancements as well.

Marauders on Endor can be profitable too from time to time. I've looted some nice +10 and +9 SEA's off them before (the +9 was a polearm speed AA and was pretty recent).

I was Swordsman and will be again once I have finshed the FS XP grind. Currently I am TKM / 4000 Commando, but I could make room for some Medic... Novice + 2 boxes up one line somewhere. I've not carried and Medic skills before, so a suggestion on the skill line to pursue preferentially would be useful... treatment or pharmacology?

Geo caves and NS POI tend to be well populated by players on Chilastra, or at least at the times when I can get online. Although, a walkabout on Lok sounds like it's in order. I've not spent much time there at all, and between your Woolmander and Gurk suggestions, as well as the Corsairs it sounds like a fair opportunity.

These have been some excellent suggestions, thank ye all kindly.
