Thread: Jetpack Revamp Needed

First of all, calm down I acknowledge the fact that there are many more important things that need addessing before this, HOWEVER, what I'm suggesting would take virtually no time to do, so it really wouldnt delay any fixes for the already mentioned other things in the game.

That established, there are 3 main things that need to be changed about how the jetpack works:

1. It shouldfunction as a backpack - How this can easily work: Justadd an "equip" option like any backpack has, that when clicked puts the jetpack model on your back like a regular backpack model, which functions exactly the same as a regular backpack. No hard work, its as simple as that. It will make the people who put all the effort into crafting one happy, and it would look like this. You should be able to run around/go into buildings/fight/do everything you can while wearing a normal backpack with your jetpack equipted(though not while its ignited, as discussed in number 2)

Currently, as the jetpack can only be 'worn' while your in the air, you cant run around with it on, go in buildings, or even fight with it on, like we saw Boba and Jango do in the movies, and like Boba himself does in this VERY GAME(he's in Jabba's palace with it on his back all the time)

2. Add an "ignite" option to the jetpack radial menu which must be clicked to use it as a vehicle - How this can easily work: If you have a jetpack, first equip it(as discussed in step 1, then ignite it, and it will function exactly the same as it does currently(in game), meaning the same rules apply to it as to all other vehicles(that you cant walk/run around/go into buildings/fight while mounted). You will click the "ignite" option again to 'land', and it will remained equipted on your back as described in number 1, until you unequip it like you would a normal backpack.

The jetpack now would have two functions: backpack and vehicle. The only way the jetpack would be able to be disabled would be while it is being used in its vehicle function, but even after being disabled, it should still work in its backpack function, just not be able to ignite again until a repair kit is used on it.

3. Make a Jetpack repair kit - How this can easily work: Exactly the same as the BARC one. Just copy and paste the same coding and rename the necessary parts to make it for the jetpack. Your jetpack gets disabled, you use a repair kit on it like you would with a BARC. They can be made out of the same things the BARC repair kits are to keep them from having to do any new work.

These 3 changes would make every jetpack owner happy, and would take vituallyno time at all to do, as their simply using things already coded in game and applying them to the jetpack. Devs, please consider these simple changes. People who go through all the work it takes to craft a jetpack(not even comparable to any other vehicle in terms of what it takes)deserve a repair kit for it, and as its a unique type of vehicle(one that is actualy worn instead of mounted) the ability to wear it around while not flying.

Thnx for taking the time to give this a read

/agree

I wondered why they didn't do that to begin with so you could at least display it without having to fly around in it. But look at what the DE-10 has become. I really hope they will take some time to go through the older items and make them worth the effort. You should at least be able to get a repair kit for your pack. I admit that the whole ignite feature would be difficult to code, but it would be nice, to just have a toggle between the two modes.

Beinga crafter, I like being able to use my jetpack AND carry around all of my crafting components in my backpack. The answer - make the jetpack a backpack in function as well as form.

It's funny, I was just telling a friend in game tonight how much I would like to see the devs make it so we could display our Jetpacks without having to fly around on them.

I agree, or if the devs dont want us flying around with them since they are so easily destroyed, can i just hang it on the wall and stare at it? At least that would add value to the cost
