Thread: Who gets loot rights?

The title says it all, every time I ask this in a thread about looting / camping whatever I seem to get different answers. The three answers I see are;

1] INDIVIDUAL who does highest damage gets rights. If grouped, rights assigned to group.

2] GROUP who does highest damage gets rights.

3] INDIVIDUAL who gets last hit gets rights. If grouped, rights assigned to group.

Well number 3 seems a bit out there to me but does anybody actually know what the system is? Please explain how you know if possible ("it was posted by xxxx in so-and-so thread", "I have tested it extensively by..." etc).

I'd appreciate anyone who can really give definitive confirmation on this otherwise I'll have to resort to some in-game testing myself. Being a lazy devil at the best of times, I'd sooner avoid this last option

Thanks in advance for your input,

#1 is correct, for now.

The group looting is changing though:

Yeah I read the thread about the changes when it was posted in forums. Looks good, but they don't appear to mention anything about the system for assigning looting rights or changing that. Quite a few people, myself included, posted about this in that thread and asked if this would be changing. No answer was given as far as I saw but I did lose track of the thread.

Believe what you guys want.. you can read my post here. The whole server can vouch for the fact that the most damaging person to nyax loses rights to certain groups.

Well these answers illustrate why there is doubt over it, at least in my mind!

I read the thread you linked to Wulf, nice thread by the way. However there are still questions left to me after the example you give, even setting aside for the moment the anecdotal evidence often quoted on these boards of groups of 5 or 10 losing rights to a single player.

For example, let's assume the rifleman you refer to is using headshot 3, which I believe is a x3 multiplier, with the 800+ damage DX you refer to (presumably speed capped given we are talking about an ub3r lootor).

What special(s) are the jedi using, and what is the multiplier?

Does the calculation of damage dealt occur pre-resists or is it based on actual damage inflicted after resists?

Depending on the answers to these questions, it would seem possible that one of the jedi group could have individually outdamaged the rifleman in question.

I guess to really settle it you need to set up a group of 4-5 high damage dealers (like Jedi) against a solo swordsman or rifleman with like a 1500-2000 damage exceptional weapon. Basically a scenario where thesolo-ist is clearly going to do the most individual damage but the group will clearly do more collective damage.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone with such a weapon to easily test this so may have to find an alternative 'experiment'... unless anyone has done something like this before and feels like sharing?

Strafe shot 3 does more damage and no, one jedi cannot outdamage me.

My rifleman consistently hits Nyax for 3000 to 6500 in the combat log (take away 10% for acid resist, ap is equal so damage stays the same)

my average hit would be around 4500.. lets take away that 10 percent, lets just say 4000 per second.

a jedi hits anywhere from 2900-3100 every second. My rifleman does a solid 1k more dps on Nyax.

oh and we've already done the exceptional weapon vs jedi scenario. There's a guy named Jahc on our server with an exceptional T21. 2 Knights and I grouped together and got the rights every kill.
