Thread: A Simple Solution to POI Camping

Since most POI's are multi-level or multi-room dungeons I have come up with two ideas how to simple solve this problem and give all the players more of a fighting chance for some of the good loot.


1) Make the uber loot drop randomly from an npc at the POI in conjuction with the loot cycle. I.E. Lord Nyax is dropping uber CAs and AAs, so instead of having Lord Nyax drop them let it drop off of one random NPC at the POI instead. So if Lord Nyax would normally drop one every fifth spawn then just make it to where it drops every fifth time he spawns but off of a random NPC at the POI.

That would take camping out of the play simple because you would have to clear the POI on every spawn because of not knowing which NPC would drop it.

Of course campers could still AFK loot and they would get lucky on occassion that the NPC they camped actually dropped it.


2) The second idea would be if they insisted that because of game consistency that the hardest NPC at a POI should drop the better loot then simple make the "target" NPC randomly spawn anywhere in the POI.

I.E. Camping works at the Lord Nyax location and other POIs simple because campers know exactly where he will spawn and at what time making the NPC exclusive to the camper. So if Lord Nyax could spawn randomly anywhere in the POI then you would have to search for him on every spawn. This solves the consistency issue brought about in suggestion 1.

The drawback to this solution for me is nothing in the game is completely random granted in the beginning would take a bit of time at a specific POI but eventually guilds and groups would figure exactly how many spawn locations and know that the NPC will appear at one of say five locations each spawn (just an example using five). Therefore more players to do it but camping still possible with this solution.


I hope one of these solutions can be implemented fairly quickly and, I personally vote for number 1.

I say just put a timer on the last room for dungeons, and spawn uber mobs from poi's randomly to kill off AFKrs. The second is really not that necessary, but the first, especially in the case of Nyax should be implemented to prevent long term squatting.

Why not just remove the /cycle target command?


Cause loot campers ain't AFK ... maybe most of the nyax ones, but look the acklay for example. There is a handfull of people, with
uber weapons getting every kill. Of cause, you can come with a group of 5 to outdamage him or so. I would prefer boss mob flags, so you could only kill boss mobs once per day. For nyax, i would say, just remove all loot, or let him drop his necklace every once in a while, but nothing else... i mean he is so easy to kill and you get down to the spawn in 1 minute. Let him just drop semi-cool loot, so the campers don't care about him and some n00bs get a shot, what the difficulty is designed for.

how about making all poi caves instanced, then only , kick the player out when the boss mob is killed and make them only accessable after a certain amount of time, like 2-3hrs.

I think that would be harder to implement than a simple timer, like the one used for house access fees.

Here is a brilliant idea. Why not impove your toon to outdam the campers. Or better yet. Make some friends and the whole bunch of you can go do exactly what u seem to hate and outdam the campers. Then camp the Cave/Lair/Stronghold....Seems like a lot of /crying going on because you must all think that Nyax always will drop that +15 Armor Experimentation tape or Acklay always drop 150+ bones. In fact its quite rare to get any of that stuff....Nyax mostly drops BROKE tapes if any and most of the time its Cryoban Grenades. So if you did actually kill/loot him...Most likely you would have yourself a nice set of 5 Cryos to go make your MIllions with. Krayts are spawning very well and NS are always there. Try to vary your loot spots.


BTW Acklay and Nyax are probably the easiest NPC's in the game that drop anything worth wild. You dont have to be super-uber to kill a protector. After a little practice and fine tuning of your character you might be able to solo and elder. There is plenty of loot/places to loot to go around. You just have expand your gameplay, instead of bashing the way other people play their game.

Look man, noone is saying people should not be able to camp and AFK farm. Most are saying that excessive farming, like solo-grouping, double-buffing, warcry spamming gives an unfair advantage to specific players. Excessive, meaning a 24 hour period of doing nothing but farming the spawn point.


Yes, people are pissed because they cannot outdamage you. But lets be frank...you are pissed because thier complaints might take away your payday. Your whining as much as they are.

Um..Im not rich...But like I said...Nyax RARELY drops anything good. I did the Nyax thing. All I got from it is alot of broken attachments w/ 2ndary's that are good, but cant seem to find a higher broke attachment to cancel mine out. I mostly hunt NS also. Acklay is boring and Nyax is boring as well. The camping of him really only started after they increased his spawn rate. I thought the 3h 40min was fine, but i guess the people in charge of this game want the prices of attachments to drop. Same with Krayt tissues/pearls by the increasing of Krayt spawns. While NS are less camped. You can always find them. And have a better chance of getting a Exceptional/Uber weapon from the Non-Elders. But the people looking for a quick buck I guess Nyax and Acklay are your best shot. Too bad many more people are after that same buck.
