Concerning the complaints of crafters about certain Legendary and Exceptional Items;
Why can't attachments be made (that are lootable) that can be placed in weapons and armor?
I'm not talking about skill attachments, I mean attachments that increase damage, add DOT effects, reduce HAM or specials cost, etc.
You would still need to purchase a base weapon from a crafter, but then you could add these Legendary and Exceptional attachments (with some rules, of course).
Limit the use of attachments so that only one of any given type can be on a weapon at once (i.e. no stacking 5 +500 max damage blaster barrels on one T-21 or having a Mind Poison and Disease and Fire on the same weapon). You could also have weapons accept skill attachments so that instead of looting the whole legendary weapon, you loot parts of it and put it together yourself, keeping crafters happy because they are still in the loop.

Crafters are slowly being phased out.
In the beginning everything was crafted by players.
Then looted schematics were added in.
Then Looted schematics that required looted components, but were still assembled by crafters.
Then Lootkits that required no crafter at all.
And now we have whole items looted that don't even require assembly.
Crafters are on thier way out. It's just being done slowly over a matter of years.

I don't see how putting a SEA into a weapon requires a crafter. I don't need a crafter to p'up my weapon.

Hmm, maybe I didn't make it clear...
You buy weapons from Weaponsmiths.
You loot a WA (Weapon attachment) and place it into whatever weapon you want.
Weaponsmiths are happy because they sell weapons, Looters are happy because they get to make weapons they want.
About the only downside to this is the Anti-decay kit...maybe, you can't put WA's into a weapon in an Anti-decay kit?

Huh?
1st Legendary Item have droped since day 1. They are just stupid rare as theyshould be. Legendary/Exeptional wepons/armor should be better than what is avalible from a crafter, but not better to the point of being unballanced. Wepon Schematics that need a Weponsmith are (in theroy) a great way for crafters and combat toons to interact (I say in theroy because in reality the loot hunter charge us insane prices wich means crafters need to charge insane amounts for the finished product..)
Yes the first set of loot kits was craftable by every one, but the newest round of Loot almost all require a crafter (with the exeption of the painting printers and the paintings that drop.) The bubble tank. Gaming table, street lamp, dishes, etc all require at least a few boxes of Artisan to make. Crafting is getting better all the time! not sure where you got the idea that we were going away????
To the origional poster: They have this already in the form of Kyat Tissues, Ackley Bones, Looted Barrels, stocks, swordcores etc. all can be used by a crafter to make the Awsome wepeons that we all know and love. To me it sounds like your asking for looted Power ups that have legendary properties (kinda like the durable Lathe that is a village reward). I think that could be a good thing, as long as it's done in a way the will not eliminate the market for Crafted Power ups that some people make a decent living off of (i assume).
Weponsmiths are really well off when it comes to loot. we have lots to collect and use. the other professions could use some work. Throw in some legendary blueprints for new housing floor plans, or new buildings. Thow in limited use Droid bodys that are unique (Droideka), Legendary DNA Samples for Bio Engineers, Make the Spice containers that are looted in the Geo bunker do something to Smuggler Spices... The amount of stuff that they can add to crafters is endless

I'd like to see something along the lines of being able to reverse engineer items and recover components, kinda like the JtL crafting.
Ex: Take a bunch of cruddy DOT CDEF's and disassemble/reverse engineer them to regain DOT components and such. They could be recombined and experimented upon and put into something like a DX2. This would be somewhat like a bio-engineer now that allows many varied levels of quality and specific damage/resits to be created. Of course this wouldn't be just for weaponsmiths, also armor, food (from foraged items), medical, droids (not sure what would be used for this atm), etc.
This would open up a whole new spectrum of crafting, and would give people who aren't 12point+ to make something decent and non-generic.
