Hey has anyone else noticed LATELY that the drop rates for pearls and clear crystals have been REDUCED ? I check the PLAYER bazaar very frequently and their are no pearls for sale that can be tuned nor many clear crystals AT ALL. This would lead me to believe that either the drop rates have been reduced or that everyone dropped is being horded. FYI Shadowfire galaxy. Anyone else noticed this trend ??? This issue makes making a lightsaber any better than 300's dps close to impossible. Lets have the rates RE-LOOKED INTO PLEASE !
By the way I am not talking about quality AT ALL just the quantity of drops.

Imade off with 7 Fair's from the Canyon CorSair POI in... say... two hours of camping the right part of the camp ('course, I was there for the agitator motor's...)? Sincerely doubt the droprates have been reduced recently. Hoarding as a result from an increased jedi population is a much more likely alternative.

Hmm let's discuss about it.
Directly after cu krayts were so easy, I remember got about 30 pearls in some hours. Market was full of good pearls ( in my server about 99-100k each) and pre-cu quality and prem ones. We could kill djms for prem crystals aswell.
But many people became jedi after cu, grinding was so easy ( double xp, respec ). They bought a lot of pearls from the market, so the price went up.
In the summer a lot of younglings, college guys - and adults who were on holiday - came and play all day and night, they could support the market's pearl segment.
Now - for me, IF I FIND KRAYTS - the drop rate is about 1 pearl/30 mins or worse, they nerfed bh loot aswell ( less good crystals ) and hard to get quality crystals also.
That's the experience from my viewpoint, but I HOPE we can get better drop rate or nice loots with the new expansion.

personaly i think they intentionaly nerfed drop rates and quality so that we will buy the new expansion which undoubtedly has premiums or an alternative in it

I've collected more than 100 pre-CU crystals since I started playing and am about to unlock very soon. For fun, I never had anyone examine them so it will be like Xmas or something.
As for your question,all my crystals were obtained from hunting and missions...

and farming areas, POIs, etc...
Rates look OK to me, although I never look on the bazaar or vendors...yet

Just an obvious point to make here:
tune from the poor qualities on upward and sell any leftover premies if you are satisfied with your results.

I wouldn't say that the drop rate has changed. Maybe you just had a bad loot day (happens to all of us). Last night I looted 6 pearls solo before I got bored and went on a Corvette run and did some bounties. I just happened to have a good loot day for once. Last week I went out and killed 50+ Krayts and only got some crappy tissues.

crystals drop has been drastically nerfed recently
I can tell for sure cause am an expert ... Lol, yes I can say that cause for 3 months the ONLY thing I have been doing is hunting the 111 npc on Dant for quality crystals ...
I have looted like 250 crystals and I can say that loot has been nerfed progressively over that period, but nothing as drastic as since last patch
Its the first time I have been killing so many w/o looting a crystal .... Today I killed 20 w/o a drop, it never, never happened!

it is possible... and i hope.... that 20 without a crystal falls within a standard deviation of the norm

Nightsisters are still dropping crystals consistently. I've gotten abouta dozenin the last two weeks. My technique is to try to only kill elders, spell weavers, and protectors. The others drop as well ( i've gotten a bunch of crystals from rangers) but the elders and spell weavers seem to drop at a better rate for me. They do still drop the occassional CA as well, but maybe once per 500 or more kills.

Hehe, soho you old cynic
I personally think that loot quality will improve once NPCs are hard to kill again. The "gold barred" boss mob NPCs were a surprise for a short while, but then we figured out what we needed to take them down withoutbreaking a sweat.
Even now, I can think of about 3 mobs in the entire game that are hard for a full temp jedi to kill solo.....compared to some MMOs, that's pretty grim in terms of gameplay
