Not counting weapons, attachments, or anything that modifies
weapons or armor(ie pearls etc..) what was your favorite piece of
loot?

"Was" implies it is no longer in game. So I would have to say the elusive loot kit adhesive. That meant I could make 300-700K instantly by selling it.
Otherwise, I like looting crystals for some reason.

Most decorations are great, but I was most partial to the Rebel Endor Helmet. Too bad it mad me look like a Mon Cal! (Stupid big-headed leezard)

My next favorite loot will be the elusive set of 6 power cells when I can find a BH to buy them from

thats my favorite one too, too bad they aren't in the game any more. I never could wear it on my Twi

..and I really liked looting the rug adhesives too, since
they seemed to be so rare for awhile. I spent many moons running all
over the areas where NPC spawns dropped these and used to be quite
pleased when I finally popped one.

Was implies something you previously looted not that it is not in the game anymore.

I should include the reason why, as well.
I enjoyed the loot kit concept very much, and I think it should continue, with different items added, as well as the existing ones kept.
Since the loot parts used to drop from lower CL NPC's, new players could enjoy running around for these things and maybe even make some credits on the rare parts, or completed item.
Some old and new ideas:
Broken weapons parts that could be assembled into a weapon trophy, like the CU Plaque we were awarded.
Additional rug types and colors.
Display cabinets or shelves that can be assembled from parts.
Cosmetic terminals or droids that do not have to be crafted, but assembled from looted parts.
Custom posters that could be different colors depending on color of paint looted. Same image, different color (red Party Poster, etc.)
Since the cave POI's were adjusted, I have a sneaking suspicion the loot tables are about to be revamped for the next expansion, so maybe some new loot kits could make it in.

What makes good loot? Well two things really... How much the item is worth, and how useful the item is. The problem is finding the balance between the two. Geo-cave loot was neat but it then flooded the market, and dropped in value, so people found it less 'neat' as it had little value. Some loot is 'useful' in that it looks neat and people can decorate with the stuff. Those who don't care about decorating their houses can sell the stuff to those who like to decorate and as long as the money for that is good, they are happy.
I've enjoyed the loot kits, but wish things were more balanced. That you had equal chance of looting the adhesive as you did for the parts, so there wasn't as much of a price gauge on the adhesives. Then it's more about finding the loot and putting it together, then having the money to afford that last piece.
I also like the other loot schematics like the pillow, and bottles and such, but wish the items were available from a larger variety of NPCs. I like the idea that it forces people to go and find those missions for Borvos or Hidden Daggers, but then the drop rates are so low that it's frustrating (expecially for spinner blades), and that raises the prices considerably. It's more a grind to get the items then 'fun' loot. I don't want to see the schematics dropping from Meatlumps, but I hate having to search threw lists of missions to find specifically Hidden Daggers or Borvos. There are other 'groups' that are similuar to them, same CL, non-static spawns, etc... but they won't drop the loot. I atleast want to be able to kill a wider variety of things.
Now I don't think it's a good idea to suddenly start dropping Nightsister Armbands and Endor Helmets, because they are so highly valued on the servers. We do need a few status symbols in the game. But when something drops from a low level creature (CL15 like the Hidden Daggers), and could sell for almost a Million credits (such as spinner blades), and yet no one wants to go and kill the people, that says something.
What would also be nice is that there is loot that drops like on Kashyyyk, (that it stacks!) and you can sell it off for credits to a junk deal or such. You get a few neat pieces but also alot of junk to resell for credits. Where you'll make more money selling the item to the junk dealer vs on the market. I would like to see the junk dealer or some sort of deal who would be willing to buy almost anything off of people for credits. Get rid of the useless small stacks of resources, the party posters that drop all the time, etc... Would also help the database I figure. This would be a great way for newbie players to earn some credits. Not much, but it would be something. I was happy to finally find someone who buys all the CDEFs that we keep getting from things (he's in Jabba Palace), but it would be great if the Junk Vendors did the same thing. Would clean up the bazaar some as well.
I'm rambling... Loot I like...
I have a collection of clothing, a collection of plants, a collection of holos, a collection of paintings and a collection of Minitures. One of my favorite items is my throw pillow, and I want it in other colors! I enjoy the rugs but want different colors as well. I would also like to see paintings that were more 'wallpaper' like. Where there isn't a set picture to them, and if you put enough up you would have a sort of wall paper for your walls. I've been tempted to do this with the double helix poster, but they are to expensive for such, as they don't have a good drop rate.I would like to see more decorations ofcourse, but specifically more stuff that would look nice in a space ship. Okay...okay...favorite loot...
