ok yea i was reading through the possable future vetran rewards when i noticed someone said somethin about teras kasi masters getting a special vibro knuckler that adds mods or something like that, then i started thinking... hmmmm... what if master professions had the ability to MODIFY existing weapons slightly, nothing major... this would allow both a secondary source of income (which we REALLY need since the solo missions went kaput awhile ago)... like smuggler but not completely invading the slicing idea, slicing would be enhancing, so dont get it mixed up, what im saying is like modifying to personally suit something.

for example...

you are a master rifleman with a 5.6 speed t21 rifle that was speed sliced or something

it has 130-380 damage range (i dunno how t21s are now, been ahile since i used one)

ham costs a bit low

what you could do is modify this weapon (mabye with kits from weaponsmiths?) so that you could increase damage at the cost of speed and ham cost...

sooo... instead of 5.6 at 130-380 and 50,50,90 or so ham cost you could knock damage up to 450 with 7.0 speed and 70,70,110 ham cost?

this is just a idea, im not much good at balancing, but thats what devs are for...

this would also allow us to personalize weapons, such as adding scopes or stocks to premade weapons that wouldnt have one instead of having to hunt down a weaponsmith that ACTUALLY will do this? since none really do anymore.

mabye if the idea is good it would even be possable to completely take apart weapons and modify certain parts such as damage type, and if this combat update goes well it will add much more variety to professions and give the "hey cool i can customize my weapons" feel...

HOWEVER.... if you were to modify damage type it would also effect damage/speed/ham cost/ect

ex- you have a t21 with energy damage, you want acid...

the damage in turn would slightly increase doing acid damage, higher ap, speed wouldnt seem to be a factor in this... aim definatly down though in theory, ham costs, high up, and decay rate rather high, and not all weapons would be able to have certin damage types (mainly for melee, you cant give a gaderifi baton cold damage... its just theoritically impossable, but heat possably, just a theory)

just an example...

but ya gotta admit even if the examples or ideas are bad the whole concept of customizing weapons WOULD be kinda cool, that way you wont see all rifleman wandering around with t21 rifles and carbineers with laser rifles or fencers with gaderifi batons... unless the CU does this for us allready, but still...

jedi also want to customize robes/lightsabers, so why shouldnt we? but no rush on this, the CU will be fun enough, this is just an basic idea

post back and see if its worth bringing up with the devs or not, and post any other ideas/shootdowns in reply

mabye if this gets enough replys throw a sticky on it?

I agree that it would be fun to be able to play around with your weapon. Not so far as to change its damage types an other major properties though. Maybe revamp the whole Powerup concept to something a bit more indepth. That combines with being able to change settings on the weapons I think would make them feel alot more interactive an fun. Maybe instead of having Smuggler just increase damage/speed simply allow them to remove the locks in place on the weapons allowing the owner to do that themselves. So when you open up your weapon you could install powerups or change settings. With the locks removed by a Slicer you could tweak them further. Such as overloading the weapon the do very high damage but it would cause faster decay. But then with the dumbAnti-Decay kits out that idea wont work.
