I thought of this the other day as I was traveling 5k out from the nearest Shuttleport to one of my harvesters... in the spirit of the recent time-sink eliminating changes, why not add a sort of "Engine Overload" for all speeders, adding maybe 50% or so to their top speed for a limited amound of time?

This would of course eat a percentage of your Bike's condition (repaired at a garage) but would help you escape risky situations or travel long distances quicker where no shuttle is available.

You could even expand this idea by adding it as a skill to a profession, say, Scout for example.

Expanding further on the "swoop speed increasing" idea, engine upgrades could be crafted by Artisans that would temporarily add speed or climbing ability to bikes, for 10 Calls or so (perhaps the vehicle loses condition faster during use?).

Both of these ideas would also expand the strategy involved in swoop bike racing beyond the current AV-21 dominance due to elevation climbing with players buying and selling parts for their swoops, and help reduce the time spent traveling aimlessly.

I swear I'm not flaming your idea because I see the angle your coming from, but I'm sick of the fast travel. Noobs can get to places on dathmoir nowadays when I used to have to walk where I wanted to go. (One time before mounts etc. I walked to the mountain on lok lol, wasted an hour or so but I lived!) I think that vehicles are fast enough now, and I even think it would be cool to add events where like all vehicles were taken under Imperial custody or something that forced us to live in the past for a while. Heh well thats my two cents.

Back in my day, I had to do BH missions on FOOT! With NO player cities and their shuttleports to get closer to my target. Ahh, those were the days...

I think that'd be a cool idea if it was a smuggler skill

I'd rather see wind animations, like if your wearing a cloak or gunmen's jacket you would see it flapping in the wind as you rode your vehicle.

examples: ROTJ- Luke and Leia with their Endor camo on the speeder bikes, Anakin in AOTC racing to find his mom.

Things like that would make the game feel so much more real to me, little things like that can make a huge difference.

Adding even more speed to speeders is a bad thing i think. Even as it is with the current speed wildspawns rarely spawn before you are allready past them, even faster vehicles would just be sort of a "i win" button. I dont think you should have achance of running away in every situation.

I actually think headlights or lights on the bottom of your vehicle would be handy. It can be hard finding your vehicle when it's dark.

Also, before they increase the speed of vehicles, i'd like to see them change X-31's, X-34's and AV-21's to allow for a passenger and a slot on the back for a droid or small pet. Droid or pet should also be able to rid as the passenger if you have no human or NPC player (*hint* new mission options!)sitting there. Speederbikes and Swoops should also allow a player on the back of it, but at the expense of it's agility and speed.

Last but not least, i'd like to see some extra speeders in the game, i.e. Gian Speeders and Flash Speeders for Rebels and another type for Privateers. These should look like they did in TPM with weapons etc. Should be able to hold multiple players or NPC's.

Another cool idea would be to allow more customization possibilities. I.e. more colours in paint kits, some texturing that could be done on the vehicle and maybe some areas that would allow you to attach decorations, i.e. animal skull, symbolsetc. Would be fun if this was also possible for amror.
