Would it be possible to make it so that, rather than destroying an item to get the anti-decay kit back it was made so that the item was no longer usable, but could still be used as a sort of display item.
This way, people who have their anti-decay kit on some sort of really good weapon, but choose to abandon their profession, can still keep their old weapon around as a memento of their past times withouth unbalancing the anti-decay kit

So for clarification, you can retrieve the anti-decay kit from any item you put it on. You just have to destroy the item it's on to retrieve it?

Nice idea , could have something in the description saying "this is a replica of a weapon used by*yourname* " maybe.
