Dunno what's up on your server... but on Sunrunner, I can't get out into the Tatooine wilderness lately without running into canyon Krayts everywhere.

Borked on Chimaera as well.


I'm lead to believe that its affecting some servers and not others, and that the powers that be werent aware of it until very recently.


I'm sure thare is going to be specualtion about the number of bases, or other planetary spawn levels affecting Krayts, but I think we can just assume its broken somewhere in the depths of code. I cant speak for any other servers but the horrendous lag experienced on Chimaera's version of Tatooine may be contributed to by this fault in the Krayt spawns. If the server is trying to spawn them and cant its possibly causing some sort of loop that drags the server response times down?


Just a thought that me and a mate were kicking around over a few beers at the weekend?

I live near the graveyard and I find that for a few hours after server restarts there are lots of random krayt spawns all over the area - after a few hours they vanish

Same thing is happening with random spawns on most planets - after server restart there are lots of random spawns - few hours later everything is gone - I know bloodfin has been like this for 3 months + now and nothing has been done

I actually just read something in the GCW Correspondents Fan Fest report that may or may not explain these occurences........


"The spawning system is being revamped so that factional spawns don't impact the planetary spawns as significantly as they do now. In related news, that's why they didn't give us the Strategic Bases from Testcentet. They had so many npcs, that a few of them on one planet would royally mess up the planetary spawns. We see them in live at some point yet."


so it IS possible that the volume of faction bases are affecting the spawn on certain servers............anyone able to check and comment? I know Chimaera has a load of faction bases on Tatooine, with many of them being very close to the traditional Krayt area, although the "broken" spawn seems to be a recent thing over the last 2-3 weeks, whereas the bases have been there for a while ???

I've run between Jabba's Palace and Bestine quite a few times the last couple of days on Shadowfire and have seen Krayts every time.

What I've noted lately is that the Krayts are on the random spawn table.



On Tempest the city I live in is about 2k meters north of Bestine, around the Stone Pillars and space wreckage. Alkhara Bandits spawn there.


Well sometimes, someone kills all the bandits and guess what, we get Krayts on Main Street.


So, if you're out in the Dune Sea and come across a Deasert Deamon convention, kill them, you might get a dragon.

They still have not modified spawns to deal with servers that don't go down every day.

Eclipse is on the krayts for a couple hours after restart then nothing plan.

Graveyard is still spawning in the evenings, at least it was the other night.

Kratys are like the devs teething rings. They turn the spawn up then down then down again then really really high then back down then up then they turn them off...

Some days there are lots of them and on other days there are non. Usually when there are no krayts there are no other wild spawns as well. The other day I and a friend went out looking for krayts and did not see a single wild spawn of anything. But two days after spawns were normal again. However, I noticed that after killing a spawn and even if I saw a new krayt spawn again on that location it disappared again.

starsider is in the same boat. went out and found only the krayts at graveyard. we then went looking for wild spawns and didnt see a single wild spawn of any creature to be honest. oh well.....
