free jedi would be the worst idea ever as a two year reward. All the real jedi would be pissed at this and quit and the people who "earned" free jedi would just prance around like idiots until they figure out how much work a jedi is and they would quit too. Free character slot idea sucks too for the same reason, you didnt earn it.
Two year reward should be just some cool decoration with no use and a "valued player" badge or something like that, not an uber reward
I'm against the "free jedi" idea. Mainly because of personal reasons - i.e. if I wanted to play as a jedi, I'd go play KOTOR or Jedi Academy. I could have been a jedi by now, but chose not to because I don't want to be a jedi. I like being a rifleman/creature handler. So getting a "free jedi" for hitting two years wouldn't be a reward for me since I'd never use it.
But the second character slot would be nice. Or even if every 3rd or 6th month was free would be nice too. 
But I liked the idea of the food crafting station looking like a webber grill. 
And be realistic people. More skill points or reduced skill points would start to unbalance the game all over again. Just think about a MBH/MRM/MPist. That'd be dang near unstoppable.

2nd Slot would be a horrible idea. I have no idea how you think this would be good for the game. This idea would cost SWG thousands of dollars a month with everyone who has a second account canceling and using this. On top of that, this is suppose to be one of the few perks left of the Jedi profession. Jedi arent "UBER" anymore so this is one of the few things that makes the grind worth it.

Sure, whatever have a second ADK, have a jetpack, get a set of Mando armor I dont care, but you dont get to be rewarded with something that takes a lot of work just because you've been around forever, if you want the second slot, go grind to be a jedi, youve had two years, you better be pretty close by now, if your not, you obviously dont want either thing

How did the previous vet awards work? I assume that only players with extended time on the game got these and not newbie that sign on for the first time like with Total Experience. I started in July 0f 2003, dropped off in Nov. and Signed on again for about 4 months in Feb or March of 2004. And recently resubscribed...2 weeks ago...when I logged for the first time I got all of these things...ie the anti-decay, and the 30k of resources and was frankly confused what these items were.
I have heard of a few noobs getting vet items, does this make sense or has anyone else heard about it?
