I'll try...though I am no uber loot god.
Get two missions (doesn't matter difficulty from what I seen, higher level just means it will take longer to kill aaukans, which means you are wasting more time between missions). When they finally spawn make sure they are about 1k-1.5km apart. Also make sure that there is a champion there when it spawns. If a champ spawns the first time you visit the waypoint, a champ will always spawn there (at least from my 40 times visiting the same two waypoints recently).
Kill ALL aaukans at first spawn (don't touch lair), bike, yes you don't have to walk, bike tolair 2, repeat. Now when you drive back to lair 1 and you don't see it spawn there might be a few problems.
First, lair can be too close to other spawns, kill off the level 20-30 creatures and their lairs that might spawn too close to it.
Second, try to get a lair on a relatively flatarea. If the spawn is on/top a hillthe "redraw" process that the lair does upon respawn might not happen right.
Third, be paitent. The lair does not spawn instantly as soon as you get near it (at least not on my tiny server). Bike up to 70-80m away, then dismount and walk towards waypoint. Get to about 30-40m, stop. Wait. There is a good chance it will spawn after waiting a few seconds (10-20s).
If you still can't get it to spawn properly, abort the mission and pick up another one. It took me 7 to 8 times biking back and forth between mission and player city before I had two stable spawns with a champion. This is not a "get-rich-quick" scheme like the caves used to be, this is a paitent, invest your time, kind of thing. But, don't listen to me, I can't even get a CA drop (6 AAs) ![]()
I have spend all the weekend killing this guys....
The lvl is important ...... for 80 + u ca get "better" CA/AA ( +10 +7 more or less that ) but the time to loot one is higher ( at least looks like that )
The missions lvl 78/79 the loot are +3 +2 +9 +-
The champion only gives me AA , and the defender / sentinel gives CA .
I cant tell how many some one need to kill because it looks like total randow. You can kill 50npcs and dont get any CA/AA....
Its luck....
My experience over the weekend, about 3-4 hrs total time spent doing the misisons.......4 AA and 3 CA's.
All the NPC's have a chance to drop a SEA from what I've noticed. As usual you can go hours without looting something then 3 missions in a row loot an attachment. It's all luck.
Yah it's a patience test. Got 3 CAs (all Jedi), 2 AAs, and an Aa'kuan Ring, Friday in about 2 hours. Last night...nada but bracelets and Aa'kuan clothingin 4 hours.
Still, it's worth it in my opinion.
So what are golden bracelets going or these days? ![]()
Actually this is nothing new. This has been around since pre-cu. I've been farming mission Aakuan's for a long time now. The only difference is in the way missions have varying CL's.
I wrote a guide for this on my server some time ago (I'd have to dig it up). Some of the loot tables have most likely been changed but for the most part, all but 3 types of Aaukuans drop "usuable" loot (IE CA/AA's). They would be Keepers, Followers, and Stewards. In order from worse to best, the drop rate "used" to be Guardians (only spawn at the cave IIRC), Sentinels, Defenders, Warders (only spawn at the cave and randomly in the wild -not sure post cu), and Champions. Warders HAD an excellent drop rate and "used" to be tied for best drop rate IMHO. It's been some time since I hunted these reguarly and may have changed sice the CU.
Another source of attachments was on Lok. Again, this may have changed with some recent patching (wasn't there a patch that fixed drops from appropriate level mobs?). Nym's npcs would drop up to +8's and 9's from Bodyguards, Destroyers (best), and stong/elite Guards/Pirates/Patrols. Mercernaries would drop up to +12 IIRC (they'd also drop modded clothing, not sure now) from all but the "weak" and messenger (not sure if they still spawn) types with the Warlords, Commanders, and Destroyers having decent drop rates.
Yet another planet would be Endor. Marauders have dropped as high as +13 mods. I don't remember the NPC titles altho I think there are 5-6 types and all drop loot.
Things to take into consideration:
-Decent drop rate does not mean you will always get something after x amount of kills. It only means that with time invested, you will get something worthwhile. Also, any ratings I may give for NPCs (worse to best) does not indicate they have a better drop rate, but what I have noticed first hand (pre cu) to drop better items.
-Pre CU you could easily go in the wild and kill these NPC's and have the same chance of looting than from a mission. However post CU (and especially recently) this has changed. If you are having trouble finding high enough level NPCS from mission terms try locating a bigger PLAYER city (or higher level player city) on that specific planet. For example an NPC city (such as Dearic will tend to spawn level 15 or so missions. A "township" player city will tend to spawn level 74 or so missions. A "city" city will spawn higher (probably 80+) level missions. I've yet to find a "metropolis" type city on these planets on my server to see if higher level (above 82) missions can be spawned.
-Lair "farming" is spotty and I've yet to reproduce it recently.
My experience is that only the missions that spawn with tents have dropped CA/AAs for me, could jsut be coincidence, but I've looted a lot of em and they're only been from the camp spawns with tents not from the missons that are open.
