Well according to the devs, the robes are supposed to have resists, comparable to that of a composite armor, after combat revamp. So right now we're pretty much a sitting duck with no armor on
As for the pockets, heh, I've no idea abt this as nothing official has been released yet.
Oh on the hooded robes, they are working on it. It would probably be out fall 2090.

Defenses were changed to be innate to the jedi instead of in the robes (much better), so the robes don't need them now - and so they don't have them.
There is some issue that keeps you from wearing a backpack with robes. I can't remember offhand what the problem was, but but it wasn't a simple thing to fix. The devs tossed out the "maybe we could have robes have some storage" idea as a -possible- something they could do. Nothing concrete has been mentioned about it since.
Right now the robes only provide a (very) small boost to the force pool and the regen rate. I dumped mine so I could wear socketed BE clothing, a spec-ops pack with some mods to ranged and melee defense, and an Aa'kuan robe (+10 to poison resist and looks a hell of a lot better).

I believe the Dev's said the thing with the backpacks and robes was that they were having clipping problems between the two making them look stupid.

I know I read something along these lines a few months ago... I apologize for not remember the person's name who originally posted it, so as to give them credit.
But here is a basic summary of my proposal for the modification of Jedi Robes:
JEDI ROBES
- Make Jedi robes a CRAFTABLE item, by the Jedi himself.
- Make it so you cannot trade the robes to anyone (just like a lightsaber).
- Make each robe a CONTAINER that holds up to 20 items + 1 enhancement (see below).
- At each rank for a Jedi, starting with Padawan, give the Jedi some sort of crystal (or something along those lines) that can then be inserted INTO the robes.
- The robes would not decay (just like a lightsaber).
- The crystal would bestow the robes with a particular benefit, such as +Force Regen, and +Force Pool.
- Make only 1 crystal fit in a robe at a time.
- Make the crystal removeable, so that it can be placed inside a new robe if you wish to craft one and have a different look.
A system such as this would allow Jedi to customize their look, and tailor it (no pun
) to the way they want to look, as opposed to having the typical (and identical) "Jedi Robe" look.
From a technical point of view, the devs wouldn't need to necessarily modify the current robe design to make this system work. Personally, there are a few robes and outfits in game already (made by a tailor) that I wouldn't mind using for my Jedi Robes. But if that's not feasible... then just simply allowing us the choose the color we want our robes to be would be a wonderful improvement.
There's my thoughts on a modification to Jedi Robes. Oh, I don't know how soon something like this could possibly be implemented. And I am not saying it is a major problem. Certainly there are several other issues that should take priority over this one. But this is still a concern.

Well, they actually ARE quest oriented... so to speak. Aren't they? Need to do the Padawan Trials to get a padawan robe, for example...
As for a crystal... well, it doesn't have to be a crystal. Could be anything.
Or just move the bonuses into the general Force Tree, and leave it at that... then we just wear whatever we want (except armor). ![]()

The idea is pretty good... except one thing...
Why crystals?
LOL, a crystal dosn't contain the force (well, a few do, but they are found on a planet that is not inhabited).
I'd see something more along the lines of the jedi crafting it to be able to try different properties... Aka, they can exp max force, max regen, % defenses, or % state resistes...

Now THAT idea I like a lot.
Ok, so the crystal thing was a silly proposal. ![]()
I guess it can be a mystical "synthetic cloth". ![]()
But your idea has a lot of merit. Make it a craftable thing, that can be experimented... hmm, where would that fit in the Jedi tree?

do dark jedi get all black robes? if so, that would rock, but if not, they should give them all black robes
