They might not read the petitions but they DO read the titles, which at the very least gives us a chance to get our desires noticed.

Yes! Or give us special lekku guards we can wear with our human helmets (they should be color coordinatable, Twi'leks are very fashionable).
And PERSONALLY, I think ANY race should be able to wear a faction hat or a stormtrooper helmet.
