Thread: With no decent soloable loot left in the game, is it worth continuing to play ?

I have to agree with some of the post's for some solo missions, I joined this game to play ONLINE with other people and therefore chose a pretty busy server (Bria). As time went I realised that most folks on there are American; where as Im from the UK, now for those people who will nodoubtwhine that i should have chosen a European server, I say this, I work nights, which means im online when most Americans are. So i can join a group when I really want to, but NOT always, there are times when Im playing when most people in America are asleep, which means there are all but 5 people online. Now here's a question for you pro-lets-turn-all-missions-into-group-affair-things, how do you join a group when there aren't enough people to make a group? We're not saying that high-end loot should be soloable, it shouldn't: simple as. But what we are asking is that they balance it so that those who LOVE this game can play it anyway he/she choose.


One final point, the games logo: EXPERIENC THE GREATEST STAR WARS SAGA EVER TOLD - YOURS!


As in play it ANY way YOU want to.

It´s not only that, but the very basic principle of choice. Yeah, playing group is cool and all, but what if you prefer to play solo?


This is a game and it´s meant to be fun. And since we paid once for the game and then monthly to keep up, the game has to be also appealing. It's not bad to set some limitsto makethe uberlootrequire a group, but lone wolves might have something worth going after, too.



The game should not push you to find friends all the time if you don´t want to.

Yeah, its getting a little difficult to really get into some of the high end quests. The only way i was able even do some was to ask Jedi in my guild to help me out. I needed 4 of them for the Avatar Platform. Without Jedi friends i basically just run around checking my harvestors and craft. I get frustrated when doing a quest only to find out that in halfway through i have zero chance of completing the quest without the help of Jedi. So then i have to try everyday to get a group of them together and so far i've gotten help one day during the past 2 wks. During that time i just sit idle, waiting for help.


The other thing thats bothering me is that i'm having to spend millions of credits for items i can't obtain (High End CA/AA, quest items, high end MOB loot). I have to craft ship parts and weapons nite and day just to be able to afford this stuff. I feel bad for the players who dont have multiple accts with crafters to bring in a steady rate of credits for items. I dont want to craft all day, i'd love to be able to go out and loot a few things for myself, but everytime i venture out, i just end up dead and empty handed.

Mid level stuff is mind numbing as well. wasn't so bad pre cu when comabt was a lot faster but now the amount of time it takes to kill npcs trying to put something like a recyler together just isn't worth it. and recylers are about the only mid level loot worth anything in my opinion.

Cu did kill any desire to go to the geo cave that's for sure.

What i would like to say is not the lack of soloable high end content but the lack of worthwhile highend content peroid. Lets look at the key examples:


Geo cave-


Acklay- Still able to kill pre cu but wheres the point? with cl multipliers even with amazing acklay bones you wouldnt notice much difference when killing mobs, RIS can be made with capped stats without the interwoven RIS schem, Bone armour schem-- ROFL.


Otherloot - DXR-6b schem, its a cl 54 weapon, how many do you see being used in pvp now? Geo cubes/sword cores, again with the acklay bones the cl of mobs determine whether you win or lose, not the dmg output of your weapon.

Jetpack - /Drool


Problem- pre cu with a decent group (im talking without Jedi) it was achievable providing alot of time and effort was put in, and i like that. Now with the mobs being of insane difficulty even 2 groups of players cannot do it. to make it worse each group needs the 4 keys which are on respawn timers so anymore than 2 groups at once would take forever and is simply not feasible. As a rundown of the mobs cl look at this:


SBD = 92


BD = 89


Black Sun = 88-89


Deathwatch = 90


Minerats = 88


In conculsion, imagine a whole dungeon full of Grevious-type mobs and you get the idea of what it is like down there.



Krayts - rubbish drops, no point hunting



Grevious - pink crystal :S decent normal weapons (although some are bugged) so imo he is the only high end worthwhile ingame atm.





Note: im not omplaining about solo looting, im complaining about the lack of highend content for groups. Yes we could kill acklay but whats the point? when hunting highend mobs you expect some sort of reward.

I quit SWG for WoW (and subsequently came back)...You can't do any high level stuff in WoW without a large guild/group. The high end content in WoW requires 35-40 people to have a chance.

I just hope this trend in the -must group for content- direction stops. I enjoy adventuring with friends, but the need to be in a large guild (or group) to be able to experience most of the content stinks.


These new loot drops to get slices make me want to puke.

The problem is that SOE knows what they want to do with the game, stupid little things like player's wants don't fit into their picture. Of course, you can't really blame them though, it's hard to accurately gauge what we want. I think the best possible thing SOE could do would be to put in a weekly ingame email poll. Once a week, send out an email poll to all players of the game asking a question such as "Should DJM's drop good loot?", then actually acting on the results. Anyone agree?

Guildwars =) Better then wow or what swg has become. IMO there's no reward or fun in this game anymore i've moved onto guildwars as you should give it a try and stop trying to keep hope for a solo type game or content in the gamefor that matter =P BTW did i mention GW is free online play just gotta buy the game and update are quite frequent and no huge downtime when they patch no downtime at all actually =P come join forget about swg =)

I must agree that GW is starting to be a nice game. Give it time and it will be one of the best most played online games - purely because lag is very low (yes and by low i mean it takes 10 seconds or so to load up into a town on a 512k internet speed) also the graphics and gameplay are far supirior. Unfortunatly crafting is not as good as SWG. I think the devs should do that poll thing or even better make a new test center for it where every week they take the results of multiple polls and put them ingame then tweak them if players find them slightly off. SOE seem to be fallin apart or could this be some suicidal mission to get the game out on console then once enough peeps hav signed up for say 3 months or so just neglect it and let it rot.


I must say the only good things that have happened for me on this game have been joining an awesum guild with some good friends and watching vets lag the server down straight after the CU

Yeah if you can get them crafted. STILL waiting for a fix. The posted workaround doesen't even work anymore.
