Nice, gonna keep it updated?

Yes. I wanted to do another one for the day before a server reset (monday) to see if theres a difference between light and heavy days. This test was done yesterday (saturday) shortly after reset when spawns are plentiful. Today in a short stint I looted 2 pearls but I wasn't tracking what else I looted.

Folks I realize this is off topic here but can sombody take a minute and tell me a template that can solo krayts? I currently got TKM, Master Pistoleer and commando 0030. I got a good flamethrower - then switch to a de-10 with 416 max but cant seem to outlast the krayts.

In game name is "Keffer"

There's 2 ways to define drop rate. Either it's a chance of a loot item per kill, or its loot over time.

Say one out of every 2 ancients you get a pearl. Thats a 50% drop chance. For Canyons and Juvies...say it's one out of 5 (20%).

If you define the drop rate by kills....ancients are better.

Say you kill 2 ancients and get only one pearl. During that period, someone elsekills 15 canyons & juvies, resulting in 3 pearls. Using time as the measuring factory....canyons and juvies has a better drop rate.

I use both measures (time and drop per kill) to come up with a generalized view of a drop rate.

for krayts in general...here's graphically how i look at it based on experiences....

--------- ====> (Difficulty) ====> +++++

Juvy Canyon Giant Ancient

+++++<=== (Drop Rate) <=== ---------

Interestingly, if you hunt with a jedi or 2, canyons, giants and ancients all take about the same time as one another to kill give or take a minute (since resists are not relevant). But in my experience, ancients still have the lowest drop rate even when you are killing them at the same rate as giants or canyons. Just my experience.

For giants try this:

[Elite Combat Profession here] + Master Doc + 4004 Combat Medic seems to work well.

Pick a HAM bar, triple stack it w/ poison/disease, spam specials, cure your dizzys if you need to. Keep yourself healed up and you should be OK.

For Juvis:

Master medic + Master Rifles should suffice. I can solo one as 2224 medic/0243TKM

For Ancients:

Don't know about soloing these. My Master Doc/Master Rifles guildie and I were able to take one down (I was Master CM/Master Doc/4004 Marksman at the time). It definitely took us a while, tho.

For Grands....

Never seen one.

afaik, pistoleer really wont do anything for you. the dodge is nice...but no melee toughness in that mode really hurts you.

i would opt for dropping pistols,either mastering commando for the extra flame specials orgo 2/0/4/0 medic minimum...2/4/4/0 if you can. healing bleeds, fast healing and use of stim D / E's.

At least commando 0040 Apply Flame DoTs I think 1&2 stack then switch to a good VK and spam UA3 you won't do much damage in TK mode but it lets that flame dot tick away. Then when they wear off repeat

Yet by far the best krayt solo template I've seen is Master Commando TKM smuggler 0010

I run 2 chars to kill krayts but it can be done with one if you have a decent template.

My chars:

Master Brawler/Master Swordsman with the rest in fencer, tk, 1004 medic and some FS skills. This char is speed capped.

Master Doc/Master Rifleman. This char is also speed capped.

The swordsman is the tank and I could really care less how much damage he does. The rifleman does the brunt of the damage with an ADK'd 773 max damage T21.Juvies take less than 30 seconds, canyons take about 5 minutes, giants about 8 or so, and I don't mess with ancients.

If you plan on going solo the first thing you need without fail is at least xx4x medic. This allows you to use stim d's for some massive heals. From there you should get master brawler. This gives you intim 2 which lasts longer than intim 1. The extra speed, toughness, and COB duration helps as well. From here you could go one of 2 ways. Master swords or master pike, with the remaining points in stacking those defenses. Master swords is slow as heck unless you're speed capped. The toughness and defenses are excellent especially if you get some fencer and tk along with it. Pikeman is good ONLY if you have a very good high damage looted pike. Something along the lines of 1000+ damage sliced/powered up and ADK'd. Pikeman defenses are non existant so stacking fencer/tk and maybe some from swords if you have the point will go a long way.

While it is possible to kill krayts solo with a ranged prof, the lack of toughness means you're going to be healing yourself a lot. Another way to go (and this was the template I had before using 2 chars) is master brawler/master swords/master rifleman and the rest in as much medic as possible. If you happen to be at least speed capped in rifles with this template you should be able to handle yourself quite well. If you happen to get in trouble you could always switch to swords to get the toughness working.

Regardless of what you choose, always keep certain specials hot keyed in your toolbar. The following is based on a brawler template.Intim 2 to cut the damage down to half (this works even when holding a rifle). Warcry 1 or 2 just in case you get in trouble and need the extra time. /Peace or a peace macro. Hit peace right before healing and the delay is less than if you didn't use /peace. /Taunt for when those pesky dragons make a run for it and you want to reel them in before warping away 300m . If you're a master brawler you could also use any of the /lunge 2's. IF you get lucky this will cause a KD from around 15m or so. This is yet another tool to get some space between you and a krayt. /Center or a center of being macro. This beefs up your defense a bit and makes you harder to hit (not that it really matters against krayts).

If you happen to have doc (either master or just some of it), do yourself a favor and get at least the box where you get state cures. Buy or craft some dizzy (for giants), stun (for canyons), and intim (for ancients) stims.

Good luck and happy hunting

Master Commando can take down an Ancient in about 15 - 20 minutes solo. Could be made quicker I think, but I've not tested the template as I'd need one that's not FS.
