QFE
actually, when the game started, you could expect good loot with reasonably little time spent killing the same types of things.
30k HAM krayts killed with AT-STs
30k HAM nightsister Elders
then when armorsmiths got to a level where they could create 100% resist armor before they introduced the 90% cap, muhahahaha, set and forget on that day.

oh, and forgot to mention:
1/5 Nightsister elders = premium crystal
1/10 Nightsister elders = usable weapon (either high damage pike or nice dot)
1/15 Nightsister elders= modded clothing
1/50 Nightsister elders = CA/AA
now, a nightsister elder took me, as a Msword/Mike/Mbrawler/2040 Medic w/ 60% adk PSG and ADK 90% base armor chest, helm, gloves, and boots about 7-10 minutes.
The above is true for Singing Mountain Councilwomen and even Guardians in some cases, they'd take from 5-7 minutes.
in 1 buff, i could realistically expect to kill20-30 nightsister elders, or, if i brought a jedi to help and tanked and shared the loot with him, 80-100 Nightsister elders if we coudl find them, which we probably could. I solo could expect:
4-5 premium crystals
2-3 usable weapons
1 piece of modded clothing or 1 CA
multiple by 4 for weapons and crystals, by 2 for clothing and CA if with a jedi.
in that time i'd probably also kill about 60-100 normal nightsisters by spinning, adding a whole bunch more loot.
pre-cu, good loot wasn't that hard to getnor was it time intensive

You say that good loot wasn't hard to get or time intensive, but the setup you describe here (adk'd 90% armor, presumably speed capped on swords, presumably an 850+ dmg acklay hammer, etc.) obviously required much dedication and effort to acquire.
nope. i was a TKM first. I used an off the shelf VK to hunt nym people, who dropped those nice VK enhancers. took maybe a day to get 12 of them. took those to a weaponsmith, had him make me some uber VKs so i could do all that i needed to do to get the scythe schem, used TKM in the Geo with off the shelf 80% armor in the geo lab to get nice glue and cubes, took to a weaponsmith, got 2 nice scythes. camped the acklay until i got some nice bones, took them to a weaponsmith and had him make me an uber hammer.
Now: all the while, i am able to sell the loot i don't need (high damage DXRs, geo pistols, etc) and stuff from jantas that i got while grinding the 30k missions in a solo group to buy armor.
in about a 2 weeks time you can have a very advanced and wealthy character, just spinning away and killing the acklay. once i had a hammer that i could use to kill NS elders effectively, kil for 3 hours, sell 5 premium crystals on the forums for 5 mil each.
I am a vet, so i had my ADK when they first came out, and bought others. I took the best stun comp i could find and bought it in bulk with the many millions of credits from janta and loot farming, then had it all sliced. the best resists i kept for myself and ADKd, the not so good i put on the bazaar or in a droid to friends.
once you're at the level where you have a nicely sliced adk Power hammer made with acklay bones, there's really nothing you couldn't do.

QFE. But then the devs decided that we were having too much fun.I missslaughtering Dathomir's indigenous populations.
Pre-CU loot also gave us Legendary Weapons with Legendary Stats, along with Legendary Condition, and Legendary DOTS, with Legendary Uses.
Add ADKs into what I said.
And people wonder why Combat was so skewed back in the Pre-CU days. Legendary gear was part of the reason why it was, but it was a major factor back then.

What you describe here does more to support my argument than yours. I have been down this road, I know that what you describe requires:
a) extensive knowledge of game mechanics (i.e. skills, templates, equipment, loot spots, spawn rates, etc.)
b)large time investment
c) understanding of your server's economy
d) dedication to loot farming
This last point is the major one here. Remember that loot farming is not fun and every minute spent out on Dathomir or in the GeoCavewas a minute you couldn't spend exploring other aspects of the game (social, crafting, harvesting, entertaining, jedi grinding, etc). To achieve what you say in 2 weeksrequires very strict dedication to achieving one specific goal. For that reason, I would have to disagree with you when you say loot did not take effort or time to acquire pre-cu.
That point aside, I do agree that the right character could easily kill anything and aquire anything in the game pre-cu. But with the same determination now, you can still go out and loot just as much valuable goods. The only difference is thatthe variety and quality of the loot has been downgraded from what was available pre-cu. Server economies have adjusted to this accordingly.. stuff that was previously worthless is now selling for a fortune.

Looted a freaking CL10 pistol that even a noob wouldn't use, from probably the toughest NPC I've ever fought alone. Just isn't right at all..
Well, where do you think all the dead noob's weapons go when that krayt munchies on their dead corpse?

everything i did i would have done anyway. i mean, advancing my character is what i wanted to do. get good weapons, good armor, and then keep it is the game i wanted to play and it is for most goal-oriented people who play. If you break it down into the goals of each step, it didn't take that long at all. if you go from start to finish from being a no novices noob to taking down elders in 7 minutes, i guess that took some time. but getting TKM, then getting nym motors to get some good VKs, that didn't take long. The scythe quest, that didn't take long. Camping geos to get good cubes and paste, that COULD take long to get sets of 7, but not really. taking that scythe and camping the acklay for good bones, ok, that took a long time. but after those 5 goals individually and nothing took that long at all.
