Thread: Is using the /unstick bug to get the DJK missions a bannable offence?
Sounds just like SOE to me

IPlaying devil's advocate here; I am sure that the devs wouldn't sit around a table thinking "Ok, here's an idea. We set up the only quest in the game which yields a very high level mob, with great loot drops. Then we make it that the only way to complete the quest is to utilise a technical function of the game, not a gameplay function". Doesn't sound right does it? Imagine if the only way to complete Half Life was to make use of the console to lower the gravity enough to fly over an impassable wall. Again, doesn't sound likely at all.

This quest has been on Dath since the birth of the prison complex, an even pre-CU it was bugged in exactly the same way, an people have been using this 'workaround' to complete this quest since its birth...

Why put the field up? Would removing the NPC be a better way of fixing this?
Nevermind that would make sense.
I dont think its an exploit..
the force field is up because he's a prisoner....this is just a bug u should be able to talk to him thru hte bars but u cant so u have to use /unstick
Some months ago you could talk through the bars which changed when the introduced the line of sight patch which prevented you from healing/shooting through walls.
Since then you couldn't talk through the bars either.
I bugged this back then several times though it never got fixed nor recognized.
If you do the /unstick you do it on your own risk but I really doubt that it is a bannable offense.
The only thing that might (MIGHT) be bannable is to repeatly redo the quest, although like stated already from a poster here, the retaking of a mission is a valid option and we're even often told to do it to fix a broken quest.
Sure if a CSR tells me to stop I would too ;-) maybe
Oh btw if someone still has trouble doing this mission just send me a pm.
I just wanted to toss in some background on the Imp Prison missions for those who do not know or remember. This quest has been full of bugs ever since my first character did it back in October 2003. In those dayseveryone was trying to figure out how to unlock Jedi and it was rumored thatthis quest might be one of the requirements since it involved killing a DJK and DJM. In any event, back thenone of the biggestbugs with this quest wasMozu being completely invisible. That's right. You could not even see the NPC you had to talk to and thus had no way to converse with him to accept his missions. The only workaround we were ever able to find wastostand by the fence near the back leftbuilding and use the/conv mozu command. It was quite frustrating but player's were able to complete the quest using this workaround and it was never once labeled an exploit.
As far as the guy in the cell, some seem to think that the devs added theforcefield bars to prevent players from doing this quest. Just so you know, those bars haveALWAYS been there, or at least they havebeen there since I did the quest back in2003. Iknow quite a few playerswho also did this quest between Octoberand December 2003 and none of them ever had a problem talking to him through the forcefield. The issue with him not talking to you because he was behind theforcefielddid not occur until the devs introduced the recent LOS changes. That said, using /unstick to continue on with this quest is just another workaround that players have had tocome up with for a quest that has been plagued with bugs for almost 2 years.
