you are wrong and bringing negativity.
anyway, i am going back to play and have some fun. in fact, i will probably run a kill/loot macro at the bottom of the aakuan cave for a while and get some loot. no i am not being sarcastic, i think i will.
the true answer to this probably just lies within the community. there probably is a way to code the game that could help, but i am not sure what it is.
we have the power to solve problems like this by just being nice to each other...oh! in fact i have a story!
i was in the aakuan cave, you guessed it, this is what spawned this post. and it was the first time i had ever been there, so the camping situation was news to me.
anyway, i set up an attack/loot macro, i stood near a spawn spot and happily started killing and looting. a bit later, somebody runs up to exactly where i was and startes camping and attacking the same spawn. "no problem" i thought, and just thought we would share the spot for a bit. however, he used some sort of area shot that was so powerful that he killed all 3 spawns each time and i was no long able to get anything.
(yeah yeah yeah, my problem, i am weak, deal with it, outdamage whatever whatever....)
so i took a chance that this person was not afk and asked why he had to kill every single one (i was a bit grumpy at the time so i probably did not even come across that nice). to my surprise, he responded and said "oh sorry, it is an area attack" and a second later he cruised off to another spawn spot.
the moral? the light side is ALWAYS more powerful then the dark side. one nice person has more power then 10 mean/rude people. the fact that he responded with a considerate answer alone made me instantly not care if he stayed where he was and outpowered me and killed/looted everything near us. and the fact that he then moved on so that i could get some more kills was just too much! hehe
a big hand to all you nice people in our community who actually care about helping others enjoy the game even when you are clearly more powerful..."with great power comes great responsibility" ooops, wrong movie...great line though
see you all at the caves! oh, and i will surely being selling some loot soon! haha

"It seems to mea far simpler solution than disabling looping macros is to disallow any attacks or combat moves to be invoked, by any means (macro or otherwise)while the player is marked AFK (either by the player, or via the auto-AFK timer, if enabled).
IOW: Character set as AFK? Then no combat, no looting; nothing until keyboard activity is detected. Preventing looping macros while marked AFK would also help eliminate AFK entertainers, if such is a priority, AFK macro-driven profession grinding, and other "sinful" play-behavior.
Oh! Also disallow use of the /afk command in a macro, so the flag can't be turned on or off except by manual means or the timer.
Just an opinion.

in order for that to work, the Auto-AFK timer would be to be mandatory and not selected. You would go AFK no matter what, you could not turn it off it would alway sbe on. Otherwise a player would sit there without the AFK tag and get around it.

Rather than go down the route of removing combat macros, macros whilst afk etc, would it not be just as easy to implement a timer for each dungeon/cave.At the entrance of each cave, a NPC could be placed which you need to speak to in order to access the area, which in turn would start a timer. When the timer expires you are transported to the entrance. Once you exit the cave either by voluntary or involuntary means another timer kicks in which prevents you re-entering the cave until it has elapsed. This would prevent the continual afk camping on various caves and also give players (who actually play) the chance to get loot.
